Advantages: Standard Disadvantages: Extremely unreliable, warranty is only one year
...One of the most unreliable and fault ridden disks I've ever seen. I purchased a batch of similarly sized Maxtors, Hitachis, Seagates and Western Digital drives around 3 years ago. I had about 15 Maxtors, of which I now have 7 remaining. In comparison, I've only lost 1 Hitachi and 2 Seagates. I'd say that pretty much speaks for itself.
To top it off, whilst the Seagates came with 3 year return to base warranties, the Maxtors have about a 1 year. I wouldn't say that's a vote of confidence from the manufacturer on the product's reliability. Though, 1 year warranty on hard disks does seem to be becoming industry standard.
For disk purchases I would highly recommend Western Digital or Seagate. I still have 4 GB WD Caviars that are still up and running!...

Advantages: Big, cheap, v. fast, v. good quality, lastest generation Disadvantages: Spins up a little slowly, but that's to be expected from a 7,200
...I've just bought and installed one of these babies and am very impressed. 7,200 rpm, 30Gb, 2Mb SDRAM cache, <8.5 ms average seek, <1ms track-track seek, 2 platters, 4 heads, UDMA66.
Need I say more?
Well, I guess a little more - it's very very fast, very quiet, installed without any difficulty. Running on a celeron333a with 298Mb ram, the performance is impressive, applications (including Windows) load quickly and quietly and large data chunks are read quickly. And my motherboard only has a UDMA33 IDE controller!
Definitely a very impressive piece of kit, would also be perfect for putting together a RAID array from looking at the stats (check out the manufacturer's website for very detailed information on the drive).
Definitely a very viable solution for people looking to expand their storgae space. Although, a few other drives, say...

...Gigabyte motherboards have always put out some best packages in the market today.
The Gigabyte GA-8KNXP-D has begun to develop a wireless card for their high-end motherboards, and they have done so with the GA-8ANXP-D. They have the latest technology of their DPS unit, the U-Plus DPS. This unit provides for an additional four phases for the core voltage power supply, and comes with a heatpipe cooling solution. Additional phases for the vcore allow for a smoother power delivery, and the load can be better distributed.
Gigabyte has added in two options which provide support for additional USB 2.0 ports which brings the USB 2.0 total to seven ports. Installing this motherboard is a breeze because it includes a large, fold-out style installation guide that will help first time and novice users to properly install all of the required...

I recently bought a Zen v plus 4gb from Amazon. It was only about £91. My husband has the Zen 20gb and loves it.
The Zen v plus 4gb holds around 2,000 according to the box, I haven't filled it up yet, i've only put 140 tracks on.

I think that this is a major improvement to the older gen ipod.
