Review of Dell Inspiron 6000 Dedicated Graphics by leontata

Advantages: Worth for value of money. Suitable for students
Disadvantages: nothing but a bit heavy

...memory will reduce the available for RAM. For better performance I would choose 256MB ATI® Mobility™ Radeon® X1400 HyperMemory™. As the Screen is 15.4" 1280x800 or 1440x900, there are about 1 200 000 pixels on your screen. For that amout of pixels ( I think not so many), the ATI® Radeon® X1400 will rock. I would rather sacrify 1gb of ram and take this Graphic card than go for 2Gb of ram but having an Intel onboard one. Gaming experience will not able to be maximised, however, you will save lots of money. Hard Drive : 80gb at 5400 rpm, 100 gb at 7200 rpm or 120 gb at 5400 rpm. If I was about to buy this laptop, I would choose to have the 12gb one raher thn the 100 gb one. Speed will be reduced, however, you get up to 20 gb more of memory and save £35.25 ( worth for money) Very portable with 4x USB 2.0 4-pin connectors (non-powered); 2... Read review

Filling up 80 Gigabytes
Review of IBM Deskstar 120GXP 80 GB by os7210

Advantages: Fast and quiet
Disadvantages: Lack of instructions

...Can you possibly fill in 80 GB worth of data on your computer? I can - all those MP3s, applications and games meant that upgrading from an exisiting 10 GB drive was essential. Costing around £80, the Deskstar 120GXP did not come with any fixtures or fitting, leads or indeed, instructions. If you are au fait with PC upgrades, all very well, if not you may want someone who is to install it for you. After 'cloning' the data from my 10 GB drive to the 80 GB Deskstar 120GXP the first thing I noticed is how very quiet the drive is - only the flashing red LED on the front of the PC gives it away. The drive runs at 7,200 RPM so is considerably faster than old 5,400 RPM drives. You certainly notice the difference - Windows loads faster and games and applications too. Reviews in magazines have questioned the lifespan of this drive... Read review

amazing laptop!!
Review of Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook E8410 - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 15.4" TFT by techno_man_37

Advantages: everthing about it!
Disadvantages: price!

...performance dramatically. Taking into account all its high spec features, you would expect it to have about 160 gb of hard drive, or at least 120. But this laptop however only has 80 gb of storage space built in. I don’t know whether to class this as a downside as I know everyone wants the most they can get, but honestly do you really need more than 80 gb of hard drive? Well I certainly know I don’t and I guess most people don’t either, so this 80 gb should really be enough and not a downside to the laptop at all. Most laptops this portable have smaller screens. This is so that the battery life is prolonged because there’s not as much screen to light up and also because it makes the laptop lighter and smaller too. This one however has a average of a normal, non portable laptop. It has a 15.4" TFT active matrix screen, yet... Read review
