My husband bought me a diamond and white gold engagement ring in January 2004. I absolutely adored the ring, so you can imagine my complete horror when I lost a diamond seven months later and three weeks before my wedding. I went back to the store with my receipt and explained my predicament.
Having closely examined the ring, Ernest Jones agreed that I had not damaged the ring and that the stones could not have been properly set in the first place. I assumed they would repair the ring but they offered me a brand new, replacement ring instead. Amazingly, they had one in stock centrally, so I received my new ring a couple of weeks before the wedding.
Thankfully, when we bought the ring originally on New Year's Eve 2003, the ring had to be ordered. My husband actually proposed with a £6.99 silver ring from Argos! I therefore had no sentimental attachment to the Ernest Jones ring, so was happy with a replacement ring.
Just over three years later, I arrived home, looked down and found a diamond had dropped out again. I knew I had not knocked the ring, so I could not understand how it could have happened. I took it back again to Ernest Jones in Winchester and explained the history to them. Thankfully I still had my original receipt. Once again they closely scrutinised the ring and agreed that I had not damaged it. I fully expected them to repair it. However, having contacted the customer service department at head office by phone, once again I was offered a brand new ring, free of charge. This was despite the fact that the ring was now £50 more than my husband originally paid.
The new ring arrived 6 days later and is back where it belongs on my finger. Having looked at it closely, I can see that the design has been subtly changed making the diamonds more secure. This leads me to surmise that the original two rings had a slight design fault leading to the stones falling out. That aside, I feel the service they offered me, particularly replacing the second ring after 3 years of wear, was astounding. Hopefully this ring will be third time lucky.
Advantages: presentation is good Disadvantages: Quality is poor
...wearing ring to much
Is Ernest Jones's ring just for keeping in the box
or maybe the quality of product is poor???????
The attitude of staff is not to take any responsibility and blaming customer and try them to spend more money on repairing product
The ring has 7 stones estimate repair cost £50 each,
take in account quality of product I end up paying further £350
Is it how Ernest Jones making their profit on recession????
Money is tight now ...

Review of Ernest Jones Jewellers
Advantages: Very poor customer service. Disadvantages: Poor quality items and very poor customer service.
...sevice that I experienced from Ernest Jones.
I bought my daughter a silver bangle last year for her eighteenth birthday.
The bangle was a modern design andd appeared tto br robust but after wearing the bangle on no more than five occassions the bangle snapped in two. This occurred only a few weeks aftrer I had given her the bangle.
As the bangle had snapped in two,it was a clean break, with no pressure applied to it it was obviously of unacceptable ... ...in the past from Ernest Jones believing that they were quality jewellers but now I know better and I would never buy anything else from them on principle.
It least Gerald Ratner was honest when he said his jewelry was cheap and poor quality. ...

Advantages: NONE Disadvantages: RUBBISH jewellery and they lie and their customer services is crap
They ruined my engagement - YES that sounds dramatic but they honestly did - The £1000 platinum princess cut engagement ring I picked in 2003 is still in the stores being sold to this day so BEWARE - (platinum - princess cut 6 diamonds in the shape of a rectangle with channel set diamond shafts. Basically it broke - the shaft came away from the setting - they said they were going to get another for me - LIES - they patched it up and it broke AGAIN ... ...parents it literally bent and broke and became distorted. I took it back AGAIN to the Bolton Branch and they said it looked like it had been put in the road and driven over. As if I would put a brand new cherished patimum engagement ring in the middle of the road for someone to drive over - ye right. I assured them it was the second time it had happened and that even though this was meant to be a replacement I reckoned it had just been patched up ...

Quick review of Ernest Jones Jewellers
Had a very expensive gold engagement ring dipped to make it white gold. After three weeks and hardly any use it faded back to gold. The last time I had this done at another jeweller it lasted 8 years and had only just begun to fade. When returned to have it redone they refused to do it without charge. Was going to have some valuations done and resetting but won't touch them with a barge pole. Disgusting customer service. Will be advising all friends and family not to deal with them. ...

Quick review of Ernest Jones Jewellers
I have never written a review before but was so impressed with the staff at the Basingstoke store I felt I had to comment. I don't know if they are trained to be extra friendly and helpful but the company should be praised for employing such lovely assistants. I was looking for an eternity ring earlier this year and visited a couple of other "quality" jewellers where I felt uncomfortably like I was being watched in case I stole something. In Ernest Jones I felt like a valued customer and nothing was too much trouble while I deliberated over the rings. Excellent, friendly service. A pity it's such a rarity these days. Other companies take note. ...
