I am extremely dissatisfied with both the quality of their products and the poor customer sevice that I experienced from Ernest Jones. I bought my daughter a silver bangle last year for her eighteenth birthday. The bangle was a modern design andd appeared tto br robust but after wearing the bangle on no more than five occassions the bangle snapped in two.This occurred only a few weeks aftrer I had given her the bangle. As the bangle had snapped in two,it was a clean break,with no pressure applied to it it was obviously of unacceptable quality.However when I returned the bangle to the Cheltenham shop where I had bought it I was told that it would have to be returned to the quality control department for analysis.I told the assistant that there was a clean break and I expected at the very least a credit note even though I would have preferred a full refund. Four weeks later I was asked to collect the bangle and when I arrived there the manager told me that the inspection had revealed excessive wear and tear.I could not believe what the manager told me as there was no deformity or bending which would have indicated wear and tear but got nowhere with my complaint even when I took it further. I have bought many items in the past from Ernest Jones believing that they were quality jewellers but now I know better and I would never buy anything else from them on principle. It least Gerald Ratner was honest when he said his jewelry was cheap and poor quality.
