Never buy Jewellery... |
|---|
Last November, I purchased a beautiful Leo Schachter diamond ring to propose to my long time girl friend. I knew exactly what I wanted to purchase for her and Ernest Jones seemed to be a store that sold Leo Schachters. As I was buying it, the cheeky Ernest Jones sales lady started pushing the sale of their 'excellent' insurance. The way she put it was, 'What if something happens to your ring? What if it's stolen, or lost?'
Imagine that, so I decided to go with their three year's insurance for the ring that I purchased.
We went on a holiday to Miami last month and were by the beach. My fiance put on some sun cream and decided to take a dip. But before that, she decided the best place for the ring would be her red bag by my care as I decided to get some sun and relax.
It wasn't even 10 minutes before hell broke loose. I woke up, bag still by my side and clutched to my hand, to see and hear my fiance cry loudly ....... in South Beach, Miami. She screamed that her ring was missing. After all the hullabaloo and commotion, my fiance and her sister decided to go to the Miami police station to register our complaint. Someone stole the ring from us. I asked my fiance to calm down as I said, our ring was insured so not to worry about it.
We had all our documents sent off a few days ago to Ernest Jones. Only for them to have declined our claim. Saying that the story in our letter to them did not match my fiance's police report. The report said that my fiance put her ring in her bag before heading to the beach. When she came back, the ring was missing.
This, according to them, amounts to being 'unattended'. This in spite of the fact of my presence by my fiance's bag?? Typically Ernest Jones, slyly wiggling out of a legitimate claim.
We intend to take Ernest Jones to the small claims court to settle this matter. We are understandably pissed off by the way Ernest Jones have gone about handling our claim!
