I won't bother boring you with the specs of this guitar, if you are looking to buy it you will probably already know them already! Just for reference, the model I have is the orange quilt top with maple fingerboard.

The Axis has a Floyd Rose, as opposed to the Super Sport which I believe is more akin to a fixed bridge. I am not keen on Floyd Rose trems due to the extra hassle with tuning and changing strings, but that is pretty much all I can fault with this guitar.

The neck is absolutely incredible, especially for someone with smaller hands. It is my favourite guitar to play, as it suits my hands so well with its narrow neck and short scale, it's much easier than guitars such as PRS and Jacksons of similar price, which have wider necks.

I find the MusicMan does not produce particularly clean sounds when amplified; that is to say, when the amp is on a clean channel, the sound is still slightly distorted, where with my other guitars it isn't. This isn't a huge problem for me, but could be for other potential consumers.

I managed to pick mine up very cheap from eBay, as it had a couple of parts missing (a locking nut and 2 or 3 fine tuners for the bridge) as well as some large cracks in the body. A word of caution picking up bargains this way: MusicMan parts are incredibly hard to get hold of! It took me around 6 months to find the correct parts - no one seemed to know what sizes they were or where they could be purchased. (I even went to see MusicMan representatives at a guitar show who gave me direct contact details for the MusicMan parts supplier, but it still took 3 or 4 different products that they sent me before they found the right one!)

For a lightweight rock guitar, for the guitarist with smaller hands, I have not come across anything better. If you have larger hands, or want more transparent cleans, then I would probably say spend a bit more and get a PRS Custom 24.
