OK, so i started out with a Cort G series bass, which i learnt on and had a lot of fun with. When i decided to step it up, i did LOTS of research and LOTS of trials with different basses. When i finally settled on a musicman stingray H 3eq in trans amber, my life felt complete:D

Advantages: Good all rounder, good funk sound, versatile and just great quality Disadvantages: Maybe a tad heavy, too nice to damage.

So cosmetically the Stingray is fantastic. Mine is 9 years old, but plays like a dream (pardon the Cliche). The action is very low, and the easy access truss rod ... ...screwdriver with ease.
Mine is the 3 EQ model, which is great and very versatile. I like to pan between the treble and bass pots, but an occasional boost on the midrange pot gives that "scooped" sound on the slap solos!
The sound is fantastic. I originally fell in love with the Stingray after watching countless videos of Flea on Youtube where his funky licks persuaded me. It does not dissapoint, i have found that flea tone ... more

The action is very low, and the easy access truss rod system allows you to make minor adjustments with a small screwdriver with ease. It does not dissapoint, i have found that flea tone and it makes the hairs on the back of my neck (and everybody elses) stand up. My favourite part of the bass is the hand rubbed special oil and wax blend, hand on the neck. It provides a satin like finish which is so fast... Some say the neck is too wide, and that the sterling is more comfortable, but the Stingray is so easy to play, and in my opinion, much better than its smaller Sterling brother in looks and sound. It is quite heavy; (around 32 lbs) about the same as a very large cat.... but with a good wide leather strap its perfect. Finally, the intonation is spot on. The large tuners keep the pitch perfectly. I dont need to tune that much at all, as the Stingray is built like a TANK. I take such good care of it, but i am not afraid of dropping it, as i know it would survive with only minor injuries! The quality is fantastic, the prestige is excellent, and the sound un-precedented! *Although i said recommended to all levels of player, i would strongly recommend you have a passion for bass before buying one. O and another thing, they hold their value extremely well....
Advantages: versatile tone, good look, great construction, good dealer support a choice of many major Bassists....who can blame them??? Disadvantages: Honestly....The little foam bits on the bridge....Why?(I know why but who uses them??)
ok 12 years down the line, over 1000 gigs and it still is the best bass i've ever laid my hands on. A great tone when matched up with the right head, and a playability that is played to be belived...(Put it this way i lent mine to a friend and he went and bought one the next day....)
never had a complaint on it for live work...ive sat this bass down in cold/hot rooms sweaty and wet ....always in tune..even out of the case after freezing in the back ...
