Advantages: Heats up quickly. Takes coffee beans or ground coffee.
Disadvantages: A little noisy on automatic coffee grinding.

The machine does not do filter coffee. It grinds beans or you can use ground coffee. You cannot use instant, however with the cost of this machine one would not want to use instant! It makes a wonderful cup of coffee, or if you wish two at a time. The coffee is always hot. There are adjustments for coffee grinding strength and the amount of hot water used depending on size of cup. The arm for frothing the milk is superb and the milk gets really hot ...
...It has a light to let you know when it is time to descale the machine. The used coffee grouts drop into a container which is easy to remove and clean. Disadvantages: Doesn't work; AEG customer services very poor

Beautiful bit of kit that doesn't work! Problems are : 1. Bad design. Either that or it's broken (AEG now taken it back) 2. AEG customer services inability / unwillingness to do anything! It may be the design at fault. A microscopically small pellet of coffee is used. Around 25% of expected volume on a decent machine. The real problem is AEG customer services. Advantages: Spout delivers hot water for making other beverages (e.g. cup of tea) quicker than a kettle for 2 cups
Disadvantages: Making many cups of coffee (i.e. above 4) it is quicker to use a kettle

Machine was purchased under a special offer as part of our kitchen from Wickes. We reviewed a number of appliances and they all seemed much of a muchness. Machine does what it should do, and with practice will make coffee as good as Starbucks. Point is that you need to practice and understand how to make the coffee to get a good cup (which would be the same for any machine. Fantastic machine, well worth the money, it tells you when it needs to be emptied of coffee grounds, when it needs to be descaled. The machine can be set up to deliver the correct amount of liquid according to your coffee set, no need to go out and buy new cups etc. In fact everything about the machine can be tweaked to suit your own taste, the courseness of the grind, the amount of coffee to be ground, the amount of water pushed through the coffee, ...
