The Delonghi ESAM 5500 Perfecta (Who comes up with these names?) was very easy to use. Just fill up with water and milk, chuck some coffee beans in (literally if you feel like a spot of basket ball) and off you go.
It allows for a large variety of coffees, although not as many as starbucks does, and allows you to change lot’s of settings to fine tune your coffee such as coffee strength, fineness of grind, water heat and ... ...fit the cup size you are using or you end up wasting coffee, and making a mess). After a good mess around with these settings, you will find a cup of coffee that suits you.
The machine produces excellent cups of coffee and saves you the time consuming activity of making them yourself, although to be honest the coffee it makes is better than mine, and it puts froth on the top. It also has an automatic three hour switch off feature if you forget. ...

The machine does not do filter coffee. It grinds beans or you can use ground coffee. You cannot use instant, however with the cost of this machine one would not want to use instant! It makes a wonderful cup of coffee, or if you wish two at a time. The coffee is always hot. There are adjustments for coffee grinding strength and the amount of hot water used depending on size of cup. The arm for frothing the milk is superb and the milk gets really hot ... ...It has a light to let you know when it is time to descale the machine. The used coffee grouts drop into a container which is easy to remove and clean. A small light comes on when this container needs emptying. I've had my Gaggia Titanium for 3 years now and the coffee produced is great. However in that 3 years it has been out or action/with Gaggia/awaiting Gaggia for about a year. Six weeks in it started leaking from the bottom of the machine (instead of dispensing coffee). It took about 3 months to get Gaggia to collect it (charge me £50) and return it. The carriage fee was refunded by the supplier of the machine in 2007 it sprung more leaks, constant ... ...December to get through to Gaggia UK, then for them to try and talk me through ventilating the machine, then to send shipping labels to actually sending them the machine. This machine really makes light task of preparing coffee, producing the best blend of coffee. I have had my machine for nearly 2 years now and i would never buy any other machine. This machine grinds the beans (to the coarseness of your choice), it then froths the milk and makes the best cappuccino ever. You can even program it to the size of your cups so that it knows how much is needed to fill your size of cup. When its done it rinses itself and ... ...of this machine is you can't use regular size coffee cups with it, i had to go out and buy the low and wide cappuccino cups especially for the machine. That is the only flaw there is with this machine. Another great feature is it lets you know when it needs to be descaled, it does this with a simple touch of a button and all you then have to do is just put the solution in the jug and it does the rest.
