Coffee Machine

Whether you’re looking for a good Italian coffee or you just want the occasional hit of caffeine, coffee machines have increasingly become an important feature of the modern kitchen. With increasingly busy consumers spending less time on the high street, grabbing a coffee at home is an increasingly popular option – and our expectations are high!

There is a wide choice of coffee machines to select for your kitchen with a variety of added extras to make your coffee in just the way you want. The Ciao Shopping Guide to Coffee Machines gives the coffee enthusiast an overview of some of the most important features to bear in mind – whether you’re perfect for an espresso machine or more suited to a classic filter coffee maker.

Don’t forget that different machines will suit different people. The first decision to make is whether you are a frequent or occasional coffee drinker, as this will affect the investment that you’re prepared to make.

non working baby and non trustable merchant : italiankitchenaids

Advantages: I would have appreciated to test the machine
Disadvantages: I have been told gaggia often have those leaks issues

I bought a gaggia baby from an italian site during the summer. This site looks very professional and is pretending to be operating in many countries including UK. They delivered to me a machine that was not the right color and the pump was leaking , all the water was getting away from the bottom of the machine. I had to insist a lot to get a coupon and have the machine picked up by this company. It took several weeks . Then they promissed to deliver ...
...had once again to wait for one more month and they delivered the same initial machine to me , wrong color AND despite the "riparatto" mention written manually on the box , non working . I was fuming and asked for them to pick it back and give me a refund, they never answered . So I am now with a non working machine and they kept my money. AVOID THIS COMPANY : ITALIANKITCHENAIDS, wonderful sites , probably a single person in his garage , and really ...

A corner of Milan in your kitchen

Advantages: Quick, simple, sturdy, stylish
Disadvantages: Can lose important 'bits' if not careful

So - I lost the whoosit for steaming the milk properly and now I only use the coffee making part, heating the milk up in the microwave. But, in the Gaggia's defence, I have had it for a long, long, time (5 years plus), moved house with it as well, hence the loss of the whoosit, and I still couldn\'t get through the day without the wonderful coffee it makes for me every morning. I could also replace the whoosit direct from Gaggia's site, but I have ...
...machine daily. It needs a good descale every now and then - I just use the same stuff you would use for a kettle, brew it through a few times and then rinse a lot, but I\'m pretty sure it came with some descaling instructions as well. Its also worth using filtered water to keep it happy, but that goes for every machine you can buy. If you are comparing this with the 'pod coffee' machines bear in mind how much you will use it and how much cheaper ...

The baby Grand of Coffee

Advantages: Quaility, Quality, Quaility
Disadvantages: You wont ever use instant again

...when you buy your second Gaggia its not because the first broke down, its because you have decided to move up in the brand. My old one is salivating my girlfriend now, so I can now get great coffee when I stay over with her. I use Illy coffee with my Gaggia BABY, and it just means that you get grade A high quality coffee shop coffee when at home. I purchased when in Brown Thomas's in Dublin, the price for me converted was £198 which is pretty par ...
...good quality suppliers. The Gaggia comes with a 15 bar pressure Pump, this is an important feature as my expert friend Al tells me as its what gets the flavor out of the beans. Removable water tank 1.6 litre capacity, it makes it easy to refill without spilling or splashing. Though some times I find it a little awkward to get out. I use ground Illy mainly, but occasionally buy beans and grind myself. This is an excellent addition to go for, it so ...

gaggia evolution

Advantages: stylish, efficient
Disadvantages: few

...me. I like this gaggia it gets hotter and steams much better then the krups. The filter spoon is much bigger and heavier (better for keeping your brew hot) I dont find the water tank a problem at all, just dont fill it too full, The clear tank is great for keeping an eye on the water level inside. The smaller filter basket supplied is ideal for pods, gaggia pods make a great espresso but I also like ones from cafepods.com. I bought my machine reconditioned ...
...and seems as good as new. So I can recconmend this machine as I can find little wrong with it, These types of machine come in many different price ranges but I feel you would have to spend a lot more to get a significantly better machine. And why go to all the fuss of a grinding machine just use pods. ...

A Thing of Beauty: the Gaggia Baby Classic

Advantages: Makes café quality espresso with a perfect crème
Disadvantages: Water can be too hot sometimes

...paid £250 from this local Gaggia agent, though online it can be found much cheaper- for about £150 or even cheaper on sites such as eBay. I got a good deal as I when I asked for some free coffee to sweeten the purchase I was surprised to find I also was given a set of six espresso cups and saucers for free. I suggest you ask around when purchasing this machine as it seemed like the shop might have got them free from Gaggia as a promotional item. ...
...not taking a car I opened the box to find a tightly packed machine with all the parts, instructions and warranty cards included as appropriate. Weighing it as some 7.5kg, this machine is sturdily built with a metal casing that feels like it will last for years and years even with constant daily use. The Italian build quality is impeccable. The machine comes with the necessary accessories to brew up your espresso including a solidly built and remarkably ...
