Coffee Machine

Whether you’re looking for a good Italian coffee or you just want the occasional hit of caffeine, coffee machines have increasingly become an important feature of the modern kitchen. With increasingly busy consumers spending less time on the high street, grabbing a coffee at home is an increasingly popular option – and our expectations are high!

There is a wide choice of coffee machines to select for your kitchen with a variety of added extras to make your coffee in just the way you want. The Ciao Shopping Guide to Coffee Machines gives the coffee enthusiast an overview of some of the most important features to bear in mind – whether you’re perfect for an espresso machine or more suited to a classic filter coffee maker.

Don’t forget that different machines will suit different people. The first decision to make is whether you are a frequent or occasional coffee drinker, as this will affect the investment that you’re prepared to make.

non working baby and non trustable merchant : italiankitchenaids

Advantages: I would have appreciated to test the machine
Disadvantages: I have been told gaggia often have those leaks issues

I bought a gaggia baby from an italian site during the summer. This site looks very professional and is pretending to be operating in many countries including UK. They delivered to me a machine that was not the right color and the pump was leaking , all the water was getting away from the bottom of the machine. I had to insist a lot to get a coupon and have the machine picked up by this company. It took several weeks . Then they promissed to deliver ...
...had once again to wait for one more month and they delivered the same initial machine to me , wrong color AND despite the "riparatto" mention written manually on the box , non working . I was fuming and asked for them to pick it back and give me a refund, they never answered . So I am now with a non working machine and they kept my money. AVOID THIS COMPANY : ITALIANKITCHENAIDS, wonderful sites , probably a single person in his garage , and really ...

Great budget performer

Advantages: Cheap, good pump pressure, easy as pie to use.
Disadvantages: Recent units use aluminium -can corrode

We drink a hell of a lot of coffee here and this is the culprit! It is cheap, its pretty well made and is a great introduction to a good espresso (or cappucino, frothy hot choc etc) The unit design has not changed much since they were released but some are now shipped with an aluminium coffee ground holder. This isn't a big problem but it wont last forever as the old bronze and chrome ones will. The pressure is good enough to pour a great espresso ...
...This is pretty much the same as many of the 'better' models- including an aluminium boiler- so descale as little as possible! The unit is fast to heat up, the pump pressure is good but it does have only one boiler- so multiple cappucinos can be slow- you need to let the unit heat up and cool down between milk foaming and drawing espresso. If you drink lots of milky espresso based drinks try looking for a unit with seperate steam and water boiler. ...

The mother of all machines

Advantages: Great coffee easily
Disadvantages: I'm drinking way too much of it

I've used coffee machines - ones you plug in,ones that you plunge and once, very messily, one you put on the stove top. It is fair to say I love coffee.Tea I can take or leave but coffee wins hands down.Wandering around a large shop I found this woman giving away free coffees. Give it a go I thought and dutifully made myself try it.Yum i thought even tho there was no sugar in it and it was black.Being towards the end of the day I got talking to ...
...had been demoing. When I brought it home the husband rolled his eyes and told me it had better be worth the price.Ok it was expensive but she did give me some spare capsuales to try.He plugged in the machine and within a minute hed had himself a fresh hot expresso with no mess anywhere. His idea of coffee in a macine usually involved coffee all over the side. If just for the lack of mess it was worth it. you do have to join the coffee club to get ...

A beautiful waste of space

Advantages: pretty, good coffee
Disadvantages: pain to clean, not really worth it!

...time. I chose the Dualit because its beautiful (undeniably) - it does look gorgeous on the work surface, and anyone who comes round seems to say "ooh, I wish I had one of those" - which subconciously as consumers is EXACTLY what you want to hear. The downside of that is that the visitor's next words are invariably "make me a coffee!"... and because you're still high on being the object of envy, you have no alternative than to adopt a fixed smile ...
...swearing at the further 15 minutes of cleaning the machine will need later on. In fairness, it makes very good coffee - not at the level of proper bean-to-cup machines like they use in coffee shops, but a pretty close second - especially if you use really high quality ingredients. But it's quite tricky to use, and took me around twenty cups to get to anything like decent espresso (that was a wired evening!). Once you've got the hang of it, it's ...

Gaggia Baby Class Quality? I don't think so!!!!

Advantages: Looks Good
Disadvantages: Poor build quality/quality conrol

...died through overuse), With a Gaggia Baby Class Espresso machine. Machine 1 arrived, I followed the instructions to the letter turned on the machine to flush it through and had water coming through every part of the machine except where it was supposed to. One very wet kitchen work top, one very unhappy customer. This machine was returned and replaced with a second machine. Machine 2; This was plugged in and used, all seemed OK until I tuned on ...
...and squirted scalding hat water around the kitchen. Upon investigating the cause of this I also noted 3 dents to the stainless steel back plate on the machine, This machine was promptly returned and a replacement ordered. Machine 3; exactly the same problem as machine 1. This machine has been returned and a full refund requested. I Have now oredered another Delonghi. I have been extremely disappointed with the build quality of these machines as ...
