Coffee Machine

Whether you’re looking for a good Italian coffee or you just want the occasional hit of caffeine, coffee machines have increasingly become an important feature of the modern kitchen. With increasingly busy consumers spending less time on the high street, grabbing a coffee at home is an increasingly popular option – and our expectations are high!

There is a wide choice of coffee machines to select for your kitchen with a variety of added extras to make your coffee in just the way you want. The Ciao Shopping Guide to Coffee Machines gives the coffee enthusiast an overview of some of the most important features to bear in mind – whether you’re perfect for an espresso machine or more suited to a classic filter coffee maker.

Don’t forget that different machines will suit different people. The first decision to make is whether you are a frequent or occasional coffee drinker, as this will affect the investment that you’re prepared to make.

Magimix Nespresso M200

Advantages: good looking, easy to use, high quality
Disadvantages: a little expensive

This is a fantastic coffee machine that makes authentic espresso coffee as well as americano, lunga, cappuccino and latte (with the detachable milk pipe). It is easy to fill up the water container and takes literally seconds to reach the correct temperature. The manual control means you can make your espresso smaller or larger - whatever you prefer - and then use the steam pipe to top up if you want a weaker, longer drink. It is easy to keep clean ...

Magimix Nesspresso Easy to Use Great coffee and compact

Advantages: Quick delicious tasting coffee
Disadvantages: possibly more expensive way to enjoy coffee but well worth it!

We have had our Nespresso for 2 months now and we think it is GREAT! The coffee from the capsuels smells delightful, ideal for the pick me up in the morning. The selection of coffees are vast; perfect for those who like the stronger more intense esspresso and ideal for others who enjoy a more mild longer coffee to linger over. The machine itself is compact and tidy and comes in a variety of colours. It isn't bulky or obtrusive in any way. It ...
...comes out in quick swift movement with no mess. The spout doesn't drip either. It warms up in less that a minute and the coffee is poured in less than 30 seconds from pressing the required amout ie esspresso or lungo . Coffee selections are great. Strong rich flavours, decaffinated, or mellow delicate coffees. The only downside (an this is very tiny) is that when that machine is making the coffee, it also makes a low buzzing noise, but nothing ...

Nespresso Club

Advantages: Service and repair machine and order coffee
Disadvantages: Fail to return machine and customer service not effective

I have been a Nespresso customer for years. I just wanted to let others know how I have found the customer service failing and lacking when your machine goes wrong. At this rate I may as well have bought a new machine and cut my losses. My machine is out of warranty and went wrong a few times on timer for coffee - seems a fault that I shouldn't have to pay for but there you go... Anyway long story short, Nespresso have had my machine since Jan 08 ...

Magnificent Espresso - Delonghi Magnifica Auto Espresso Machine

Advantages: Excellent consistent espresso. Fully automatic. Easy to use and maintain.
Disadvantages: Initial outlay. Large footprint on worktop.

...plunge. I test drove the Delonghi and the closest Gaggia and I knew the Delonghi tasted better and was better for value for money at £100 cheaper. I was sold. I purchased my Magnifica from Whittard of Chelsea, Cheshire Oaks for £349. This included 500g of free coffee, a descaler kit, milk jug, thermometer and set of espresso cups. I left the store fully loaded with everything I needed to continue my espresso journey. Unpacking and Setup I am ...
...Gaggia and Jura. DeLonghi and Gaggia are very similar with their machine specifications and price point, between £3-750 where as Jura will start at around £900 upto £2500. Some of their machines even connect to the internet which is slightly overkill! Although the Magnifica is one of the cheaper machines it is still an expensive purchase and cheap is one thing it is not! A super automatic does everything for you. You place unground beans in the top ...
