Coffee Machine

Whether you’re looking for a good Italian coffee or you just want the occasional hit of caffeine, coffee machines have increasingly become an important feature of the modern kitchen. With increasingly busy consumers spending less time on the high street, grabbing a coffee at home is an increasingly popular option – and our expectations are high!

There is a wide choice of coffee machines to select for your kitchen with a variety of added extras to make your coffee in just the way you want. The Ciao Shopping Guide to Coffee Machines gives the coffee enthusiast an overview of some of the most important features to bear in mind – whether you’re perfect for an espresso machine or more suited to a classic filter coffee maker.

Don’t forget that different machines will suit different people. The first decision to make is whether you are a frequent or occasional coffee drinker, as this will affect the investment that you’re prepared to make.

Coffee lovers machine

Advantages: Thickest, strongest, nicest coffee I could get
Disadvantages: Pricier than others on the market

I am a coffee addict and have tried several different coffee machines over the years. This machine was bought for a present by a friend when I moved house recently and it was a joy to behold. The look is hi-tech but classy and fit well into my new modern kitchen. But even more important the coffee it produced was beautiful, strong with great aroma. I tried several differnent makes of coffess and all came out delicious. My old coffee maker went in ...

Is coffee your daily grind?

Advantages: Smell, authentic taste,
Disadvantages: Initial cost,cleaning

...family has encountered with a Miele appliance the service was top notch. So if you’re a true coffee lover this is definitely for you. Recreate that coffee house experience all for less than 10p a cup. I'd like to finish with a quote: "The coffee is prepared in such a way that it makes those who drink it witty: at least there is not a single soul who, on quitting the house, does not believe himself four times wittier that when he entered it" --Charles ...

our little red coffee dog.

Advantages: easy to clean, quick
Disadvantages: expensive, and can only use nescafe pods no cheap alternative

NESCAFE KRUPS DOLCE GUSTO We have been married now for just over a year; as we already had everything in our flat when we got married the majority of our wedding presents came in the form of money or Argos vouchers, so we decided to treat ourselves to a Dolce Gusto coffee machine. The cost of the machines at £80 is quite expensive, so I think that you really have to think about this purchase before you make it, it’s not the sort of appliance that ...
...say the coffee machine was my wife’s choice because it was ‘cute’ !! I have to admit though that this machine is extremely stylish and does look very modern (it’s rather like a red robotic dog actually!!) WHAT DO YOU GET FOR YOUR MONEY? Inside the box, as well as the machine itself, you get a Cappuccino cup and saucer and a Latte Macchiato glass, sixteen capsules two each of Expresso, Caffé Lungo, Latte Macchiato, Cappuccino and Chococino. There ...

Magnificent Espresso - Delonghi Magnifica Auto Espresso Machine

Advantages: Excellent consistent espresso. Fully automatic. Easy to use and maintain.
Disadvantages: Initial outlay. Large footprint on worktop.

...plunge. I test drove the Delonghi and the closest Gaggia and I knew the Delonghi tasted better and was better for value for money at £100 cheaper. I was sold. I purchased my Magnifica from Whittard of Chelsea, Cheshire Oaks for £349. This included 500g of free coffee, a descaler kit, milk jug, thermometer and set of espresso cups. I left the store fully loaded with everything I needed to continue my espresso journey. Unpacking and Setup I am ...
...Gaggia and Jura. DeLonghi and Gaggia are very similar with their machine specifications and price point, between £3-750 where as Jura will start at around £900 upto £2500. Some of their machines even connect to the internet which is slightly overkill! Although the Magnifica is one of the cheaper machines it is still an expensive purchase and cheap is one thing it is not! A super automatic does everything for you. You place unground beans in the top ...

DeLonghi Treviso - By Hook Or By Crook, You WILL Last Three Years

Advantages: Inexpensive, makes good basic coffee
Disadvantages: Tiny tank capacity means filling it every time. A bit noisy

...Comet paying £70 for a DeLonghi Treviso, but before you all start checking and finding out that it should have cost £52, it did, before they tacked on the 3-year warranty. SO WHAT IS IT? The Treviso is a two-cup espresso machine. That is to say it can make two cups of coffee at a time, and in our household, that’s plenty, most of the time. Espresso machines pump high pressure (14 bars in this case – about 206 psi) hot water through a filter, ...
...the coffee is ‘expressed’ through the filter with all the speed of ….errrr…..an express train. Compared to a coffee percolator, where the hot water goes round and round picking up extra flavour on each pass, the espresso taste is more like a Rombout filter literally pumped up ‘on steroids’ as Jezza Clarkson is wont to say. Hence, its resulting flavour from a single pass tends more towards that of filter compared when compared to anything a ‘perky ...
