Coffee Machine

Whether you’re looking for a good Italian coffee or you just want the occasional hit of caffeine, coffee machines have increasingly become an important feature of the modern kitchen. With increasingly busy consumers spending less time on the high street, grabbing a coffee at home is an increasingly popular option – and our expectations are high!

There is a wide choice of coffee machines to select for your kitchen with a variety of added extras to make your coffee in just the way you want. The Ciao Shopping Guide to Coffee Machines gives the coffee enthusiast an overview of some of the most important features to bear in mind – whether you’re perfect for an espresso machine or more suited to a classic filter coffee maker.

Don’t forget that different machines will suit different people. The first decision to make is whether you are a frequent or occasional coffee drinker, as this will affect the investment that you’re prepared to make.

Frothy coffee gives good head

Advantages: Not a bad cup for the price
Disadvantages: Won't last long

...which bodes well for the Russell Hobbs machine that sits on the worktop. In my view, a fine machine that feeds my addiction for a cost of only £40. Sure, it's life will be short due to overuse and poor build-quality but its life will have been a full one. Boring details This is an espresso machine with a steamer nozzle featuring • • 15 bar pump pressure • • Steam nozzle • • 1.2 litre capacity • • Removable ...
...dated and dull. Well, that's Russell Hobbs for you, the people who invented beige toasters with even beiger leaf detail. The grey colour is, I think, meant to be chrome coloured. But it fails to impress. It looks grey. The design is described as compact but that too stretches the imagination just a little too far. It takes up the same footprint as a toaster and stands about 35cm tall. How it all works --------------------- The machine has a sizeable ...

Small, affordable and effective.

Advantages: Good value for money. Excellent steam control. Compact.
Disadvantages: A little difficult to clean.

I purchased this machine for my husband who is a self confessed coffee addict. He only drinks espresso with no sugar so had found most coffee makers did not force the coffe taste through strongly enough. However, he said this machine gave the best coffee flavour he had ever tasted. He also had other friends try it, who were also sceptical, but all voted it the best coffee ever and all bought a machine! I myself am only allowed to drink coffee in ...
...impressed with the machine, I should give it a try, but with milk and sugar. The milk frother worked perfectly and complimented the coffee flavour brilliantly. With a few chocolate sprinkles on top it looked and tasted just as good as a cappucino that would cost me £2 in a cafe. ...

A beautiful waste of space

Advantages: pretty, good coffee
Disadvantages: pain to clean, not really worth it!

...time. I chose the Dualit because its beautiful (undeniably) - it does look gorgeous on the work surface, and anyone who comes round seems to say "ooh, I wish I had one of those" - which subconciously as consumers is EXACTLY what you want to hear. The downside of that is that the visitor's next words are invariably "make me a coffee!"... and because you're still high on being the object of envy, you have no alternative than to adopt a fixed smile ...
...swearing at the further 15 minutes of cleaning the machine will need later on. In fairness, it makes very good coffee - not at the level of proper bean-to-cup machines like they use in coffee shops, but a pretty close second - especially if you use really high quality ingredients. But it's quite tricky to use, and took me around twenty cups to get to anything like decent espresso (that was a wired evening!). Once you've got the hang of it, it's ...

Gaggia Baby Class Quality? I don't think so!!!!

Advantages: Looks Good
Disadvantages: Poor build quality/quality conrol

...died through overuse), With a Gaggia Baby Class Espresso machine. Machine 1 arrived, I followed the instructions to the letter turned on the machine to flush it through and had water coming through every part of the machine except where it was supposed to. ...and squirted scalding hat water around the kitchen. Upon investigating the cause of this I also noted 3 dents to the stainless steel back plate on the machine, This machine was promptly returned and a replacement ordered. Machine 3; exactly the same problem as machine 1. This machine has been returned and a full refund requested. I Have now oredered another Delonghi. I have been extremely disappointed with the build quality of these machines as ...

our little red coffee dog.

Advantages: easy to clean, quick
Disadvantages: expensive, and can only use nescafe pods no cheap alternative

NESCAFE KRUPS DOLCE GUSTO We have been married now for just over a year; as we already had everything in our flat when we got married the majority of our wedding presents came in the form of money or Argos vouchers, so we decided to treat ourselves to a Dolce Gusto coffee machine. The cost of the machines at £80 is quite expensive, so I think that you really have to think about this purchase before you make it, it’s not the sort of appliance that ...
...say the coffee machine was my wife’s choice because it was ‘cute’ !! I have to admit though that this machine is extremely stylish and does look very modern (it’s rather like a red robotic dog actually!!) WHAT DO YOU GET FOR YOUR MONEY? Inside the box, as well as the machine itself, you get a Cappuccino cup and saucer and a Latte Macchiato glass, sixteen capsules two each of Expresso, Caffé Lungo, Latte Macchiato, Cappuccino and Chococino. There ...
