Advantages: entertaining style of writing, many additional sources of information Disadvantages: no mathematical coverage of topics
You know you have learnt the art of procrastination when you're spending your time writing about a book instead of actually reading it... :-)
"Economics for Business" by JohnSloman and Mark Sutcliffe is the core textbook of the Economics course I'm doing as part of my course in Management Studies. I got it from Amazon for about 33 pounds, which is a reasonable amount for an economics textbook.
The book is especially designed for people who want a good understanding of economics in order to apply it to a "real-life" (i.e. business) context. Before you start reading the review, I would like to point out that it is definitely *not* a good textbook for someone doing a "proper" economics degree, as Sloman does not rely on mathematical principles to explain the basic theories you need to know. Advantages: Great singing voice, left me singing the songs for hours. Disadvantages: I can't find any!
The One and Only. No not Chesney Hawks. The other one and only; Mr John Barrowman of course!
In 2008 Barrowman worked with Metro (A Union Square Music label) in order to release this great compilation of all of his great songs performed by him and others in some few duets (such as High Flying Adored of Evita performed with Maria Freedman) taken from stage. This compilation shows John Barrowman at his finest performing songs from all sorts of very famous Musicals including Grease, Miss Saigon, Evita and many more...
The track List includes:
1. All I Ask Of You (The Phantom Of The Opera) With Claire Moore
2. Can You Feel The Love Tonight (The Lion King)
3. Any Dream Will Do (Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat)
4. Grease (Grease)
5. Love Changes Everything (Aspects Of Love)
6. High Flying Adored (Evita ...
Advantages: Easy to read, interesting Disadvantages: None
This book is an absolute must for any Economics student. This book was recommended for our Economics Degree course. This I am sure had nothing to do with the fact that another tutor was actually the author!
It cost me £17.99 which seemed a bit pricey at the time, but I have been able to use it right into my third and final year and was always relevant.
The book is divided into many chapters, the first third of the book is taken up with basic economic applications such as supply and demand, money, inflation etc. The next two thirds concentrate on Macroeconomics and Microeconomics and the various applications within those, in depth, as well as basically.
Each chapter and section has practical applications of the concepts as well as definitions of each major point. If you ever wondered what a Giffen Good is, here's where you will ...
