Advantages: Very comprehensive. Disadvantages: Can be slightly daunting/boring.
...of definitions. Both of these are very useful when the exams draw near.
I suspect that not many people would read it for pleasure. The book is over 700 pages and even to people who are interested in economics, it can be tedious at times.
Would I buy it? That really depends. If you already have an economics textbook and are looking to have something else to prepare you for exams, then you'll be better off with a revision guide. If your school doesn't provide you with your own copy of a textbook, buying a copy of Economics may help you through the course.
If you are not taking A-level economics but are thinking of taking it at university, or you are studying for some other reason, than the fact that you don't have to follow the A-level syllabus strictly gives you a bit more choice. There is another book called Economics by JohnSloman. Don't get me...

Advantages: Good explanations. Disadvantages: Doesn't strictly follow the AS/A2 syllabus.
...If you are studying economics, for one reason or another, this is a very useful book.
The book is geared towards those who are starting their journey into the great mystery that is economics. It starts off with the basics of what economics is, and gets on to the more complicated stuff from there. It's not overly daunting for the beginners, and that's a great feat for a 800-odd page book to achieve.
The book explains economic concepts and theories very well, with colourful graphs and case studies to aid understanding. The book also includes some questions and summaries of chapters. The book covers a lot of topics. As far as I can tell, it covers most if not all of A-level economics, which is two years of study. But I have to point out that the book does not advertise itself as an A-level textbook. It does in fact deviate and/or go...

Advantages: entertaining style of writing, many additional sources of information Disadvantages: no mathematical coverage of topics
...You know you have learnt the art of procrastination when you're spending your time writing about a book instead of actually reading it... :-)
"Economics for Business" by JohnSloman and Mark Sutcliffe is the core textbook of the Economics course I'm doing as part of my course in Management Studies. I got it from Amazon for about 33 pounds, which is a reasonable amount for an economics textbook.
The book is especially designed for people who want a good understanding of economics in order to apply it to a "real-life" (i.e. business) context. Before you start reading the review, I would like to point out that it is definitely *not* a good textbook for someone doing a "proper" economics degree, as Sloman does not rely on mathematical principles to explain the basic theories you need to know. This however, can be an advantage for people...
