I called Esure and discussed the fact that i felt i was insuring my buildings for too much money, they were really helpful and told me which documents i need to look at to get the correct re build cost. On doing this, i was right......they reduced the sum insured and again my premium dropped!!
Oh....just before i ramble on....just to let you know if you get a quote on the internet its cheaper.
Now...they say you never know how good an insurance company is until you make a claim. Well, a couple of weeks ago on a sat evening i was getting ready to go out when i noticed in the dining room a wet patch on the ceiling. On closer inspection ( by giving it a prod) i realised the ceiling was wet...it was that soft my finger went through the ceiling. I dug my policy booklet out knowing i have the home emergency and gave Esure a ring. I explained the situation (I could see a slight drip coming from one of the water pipes) they explained that because i have home emergency they would send a plumber out to me. Now the drip wasn't really bad and i was of course going out so i asked if it would be possible for them to send someone on the sunday morning. The bloke i spoke to took my mobile number and explained that the plumber would give me a call to discuss when he could come out. Within 10 mins my mobile was ringing and a lady confirmed that they would send someone in the morning.
Next morning at 9am (I know i couldn't believe it - normally tradesmen turn up 5 hours late!!) the plumber arrived. He explained they would need to go through my sons bedroom floor to gain access to the pipe. Oh no i thought....i hate mess!!
I asked him if i could discuss first with my insurance company as i didn't want my floor being pulled up and then Esure refusing to put it back. After speaking to Esure they advised where ever there is water damage they will replace. I organised for the plumber to come back on the Monday. He sorted my pipe for me. We couldn't get a builder out until the Sat morning, obviously due to my son being 7, and the fact i didn't want two legs hanging through my dining room ceiling we had to put some temporary board over the area . It was a week of fun!! My son thought his room was an island! I obtained a quote from the builder, called Esure and they authorised my claim straight away!
I now have a newly plastered ceiling, new floor boards and new piping. All for the cost of my £60 excess.
I have to say i was very impressed with the service and i would recommend them again and again!! The Home Emergency is also well worth the money that was approx £35.00 for the year. It covers roof damage, plumbing and drainage, main heating system, domestic power supply, toilet unit, home security and lost keys.
Advantages: Cheapest quote I found Disadvantages: Cannot renew on line
stolen or damaged? Our recommended supplier will contact you and replace it within 5 days
? Emergency glass replacement normally within 90 minutes, non-emergencies within 2 working days
? Immediate arrangement of legal help for uninsured losses if you have Motoring Legal Protection.
Esure also offer homeinsurance but I did not find this cheaper than my existing insurer.
In summary, they are definitely worth a try for a quote if you fit their criteria. Thanks for reading.
