Indeed, everything in Eternal Sonata has a real feeling of due care and attention. The towns of Ritardando and Baroque in particular are simply fantastic to look at. The fields in this game are spacious and yet do not allow for wandering for many hours in the wrong direction, retaining a sense of control for the user. However, the one complaint I have with this game is that this leads to the game becoming somewhat linear, with a minimum of side-quests. However, those sidequests you do end up having are pleasant enough, and well worth investing time in (both from an enjoyment standpoint and an achievement point of view).
Initially, the story places you in the role of Polka, a 14 year old from the village of Tenuto, but it is not long before others are introduced, and indeed you go on to control up to 9 other characters over the course of the game. It is here that the balancing of the characters is inspired, and the battle mechanics combined with the character types give you many different ways to fight.
The three-character selection system, combined with the variety of fighting styles and special attacks, gives a real sense of strategy as you choose the three characters who best suit your fighting style. Everything is here, from healers to projectile weapons specialists, all the way to kickboxers and sharpshooters. Not to worry though, the characters not in your first team will accumulate experience points at a reduced rate, so you will never find yourself with three level 50 characters and a level 4.

Namco Bandai, as seen in previous RPGs (Gamecube RPG Baten Kaitos still occupying a cherished space in my game collection), have no trouble when it comes to interesting and engaging stories. This story, however, had me intrigued months before the game came out, and I was not disappointed with the final product.
The characters you play as are creations of the fevered dreams of composer Chopin, as he battles illness in the real world. While this sounds like a bizarre concept, it is executed with a very epic feel, with a few twists along the way to retain your attention for the 25+ hours this game will undoubtedly take.
The sound in this game is undoubtedly important, and has one of the most fantastic soundtracks ever devised, blending the works of Chopin and a stunning score to create a sonic masterpiece. The use of sound in this game is simply magnificent, even in such little details as the ability to block in battle semi-relying on sound to help you time it (you'll see what I mean).
Ultimately the little touches are what make this game so enjoyable. From the achievements being secret all the way through the game until they're unlocked (A feature I think many games could be enhanced with) to the naming of every character and landmark after a musical term.
To summarise, let me just say this: I can say with absolute assurance that I am genuinely moved by very few things. However, I found myself fighting tears when I reached the end of Eternal Sonata. The tears would have been tears of pure satisfaction, as this game will undoubtedly be one I revisit if only to admire the scenery.
Advantages: Music and plot is deep and compelling. Disadvantages: Some bad camera angles, fairly low replayability.
As a fan of the 'Tales of' series, I would have never believed that Namco would produce a new work relating to a famous pianist. At first I was skeptical, though I did not have an Xbox 360 at the time, but when I managed to finally pick up a copy, I was quickly sucked in and blown away. This is my second favorite of RPGs on the Xbox 360, and for a very good reason... Plot 10/10- By far a highly innovative plot. You are Frederic Francois Chopin, a ... ...his death bed, dreaming of his world that is beyond the earth's realm. The characters introduced within the dream is what weaves the story's web. The plot dwelves deeply into philosophy, causing the player to think beyond just the story and into its concepts. Characters 9/10 - Every character is wonderful in my opinion. Each stands out towards the player, and you actually can relate to them. However, a couple fall into the cliche RPG hero category, ...

Advantages: Low price, short game, fun battle system Disadvantages: strange plot, not focused
The game has an interesting start to it. After an in-game movie, you start as the character, Polka. You learn some information about her, and then you switch to another group of characters, Gretto and Beat. At first, I was angry because I don't really like switching parties, but they meet down the line and become one party. The fighting system is very fun. The best part is, the better you get at the game, the harder the fighting system is. This keeps ... ...fighting system is half turn-based half real-time. When it is your turn, you get a certain amount of time to fight. In your first fight, you get a tutorial from the characters, and it is very easy to learn. The one problem I have with this game so far is the money system because it is far too easy to acquire it. Beat is obsessed with his camera in the storyline, and one of his special attacks is taking photos of the enemies. You can go to shops and ...

Advantages: Intriguing story Disadvantages: Boring battle scenes, annoying character voices, repetitive
I was lent this game from a friend and am glad i didn't pay for this. The game has lots of cutscenes with the characters having extremely long pauses between each sentence - but an intriguing story. The battle system didn't excite me. The battles were repetitive with the characters moaning and groaning their special attacks whenever i used them. Some parts of the story are quite laughable at - but i hope they are meant to be like that.
The music ... ...how you can choose to listen to songs (cannot play while in game though) and also find sheet music to play with some npc's in the game.
I like to feel the sense of adventure in an rpg game - but this game lacks it. The story is always going in one direction and i feel like i have no control over it.
There really isn't much to the game. It is really just running to monsters, leveling and killing more and more monsters. I usually enjoy rpg games ...

EternalSonata PS3
I finally got my hands on a copy of this game. Even though it was released on Xbox360 back in 2007 before PS3's release which was the beginning of 2009.
Found it to be a colourful world between reality and fantasy and based around the famous composer Frederic Chopin just before he dies from Tuberculosis at
the age of 39, even though Chopin looks about 18 in the game to be honest. Its very child like game with no scenes of blood or swearing. Has an easy tutorial
section at the beginning of the game so you can learn what functions to use and how easy to use with the joypad. You get to meet various people and how they
play apart in Chopins dream world and become apart of his companies in his dreamworld.
