...Best budget vacuum cleaner. Reviews say the Eureka 4870 is the best value in a bagging upright vacuum cleaner, cleaning as well as or better than more expensive models. The Eureka vacuum also ships with a sealed HEPA filter and does well in noise tests. Experts say this vacuum does a good job of picking up pet hair on carpeting. It has on-board attachments and brushroll on/off control. At 20 pounds, the Eureka can be cumbersome to push, as well as hard to carry up and down stairs. In addition, you have to change a bag. We did read complaints about breakdowns, especially after the two or three-year mark. For those who want a good all-around upright vac for a modest price, however, the Boss is the best vacuum cleaner.... Read review

...When I was looking through my Gold box offers on Amazon.com, they offered the Litespeed vacuum cleaner for $67. That seemed like a pretty good deal for a "bagless" vacuum cleaner and so I bought it on a whim because I was tired of constantly unclogging my current Eureka upright. Boy, what a difference a vacuum cleaner makes. First, the basics. The Litespeed is an upright and works on both carpets and bare floors. It has 12 amps of power and does not use a bag. Instead, it has a large cup that you empty out and two filters. One of the filters requires regular cleaning and the other (a HEPA filter to prevent dust from recycling back into the room) requires replacement every 6 months. ...Once upon a time there were ionisers. They pump negative ions into your room, which is normally full of too many positive ions. Positive ions make the air heavy and impure, while negative ions make it light and fresh. The trouble was, that when the positive ions were driven out by the negative, they came to rest around your ioniser in a black heavy sludge, that was unsightly and difficult to clean. Then, Eureka! The fresh air globe, which is basically an ioniser surrounded by water, so that when the black sludge falls out of the air it falls ino the water and you do not see it. The fresh air globe does everything it says on the box. It purifies and humidifies the air and gets rid of smells. But it is not designed for humans to use. It comes in three bits with fiddly little wires, meaning it is difficult to move around the room... Read review
