Used this product for the first time this year.. normally i use others.. Unfortunately I had a loss the day I was leaving and was not able to report this to the police . I would have missed both my flights back to the Uk. I contacted Europ assist on the day of my return and several times after and they gave me a long story. Contacted the agent Oinc.com and they didn't even have a contact number for them. To cut a long story short, they would look for any excuse not to pay.. you can prove and prove but they will find an excuse to reject your claim. They insist I needed to report the loss to the tour operator, the police or the hotel. Well my only option was the police and had I done this they would be paying in excess of £1000 as opposed to £50 but ..no thanks for me..
I applied to join Europassist in Oct 2000 a few weeks before a charity drive to Italy to raise money for childrens charities. I was assured that my pack would arrive before my departure, but 1 week before I left it had not arrived so I phoned them. They informed me that the person who had taken my credit card details had undercharged me by 5 pence and so my cover had not been set up, although no one had called me to tell me this. One day before departure it still had not arrived and so I called again, to be told they had my address wrong, this was corrected and I was given a number and contact telephone numbers for my trip. Whilst abroad in my Mini my clutch went, Europassist sent someone to us after leaving us on hold for over 20mins and they took us to a closed garage and left. ...out a policy underwritten by Europ Assistance this summer to cover our round the world trip. Unfortunately, just after leaving (1 week after) the UK, we had to return as my father was taken into intensive care. 3 weeks after this, we submitted our claim form, supported by exhaustive documentation. 4 months later, and we are no further on - stupid information requests (repeating earlier requests), claim handled by multiple processors, rude staff on ... ...and avoidance tactics, we got a solicitor involved. You would think that would have greased the bearings a little. No. They put the solicitor on indefinite hold, hang up on him etc. etc. We're giving it one more week before taking actual legal action or going to the ombudsman. Steer well clear. Would give 0 stars if possible. ...

...and Go (shop front) and Europ assistance (underwriters) are not regulated by the same rules that motor traffic insurance is. In a motor accident if a passenger fails to wear a seat belt they may lose a portion of a claim due to recognition of their negligence. This would be a small percentage with the most in unusal circumstances being 50% disallowed as I understand. Also under road traffic law if the driver made a mistake, such as overloading the ... ...blamed on the passengers as Europ Assistance have. Europ assistance have small print which enables them to exclude any claim where they consider the claimant to have put themselves at risk despite the fact that the law will insist on cover in terms of motor insurance. AA Five Star Europe Roadside Assistance cover is the best thing since sliced bread?probably. On a recent short (5 day) trip to France, everything had been progressing very smoothly until we were just south of Paris.
The car gave a bit of a lurch, there was a sudden loss of power and red lights careered over the dashboard.

down in the wilds of Scotland in the middle of blizzards, when even an Eskimo would be loathe to leave the warmth of his igloo, and the intrepid AA man has still managed to come to my rescue.
On one occasion I deposited a rear axle of my BMW 525 in the middle of a French motorway near Cannes. (at about 110mph I might add; NOT a pleasant experience)
This could have proved a real holiday killer in terms of cost and inconvenience, only for the fact I was covered under the AA’s “EuropeAssistance” programme. I think they called it “5 Star Cover” in those days.
Not only was I towed to the nearest BMW main agent, but supplied with a replacement car until my own was repaired, and all at no extra cost.
~ ~ So what is this run in I had with them over Christmas, as I mentioned in my introduction.

after talking to his supervisor), and quoted me £226 fully comp. That is FANTASTIC!! Especially in a moderate risk area like Reading.
They offer low-rate instalment payments, as well as full payment immediately, and cover started immediately. (of course, they send you documents to sign, but the insurance is back-dated to when you phone). They also offer 30-day guaranteed quotes if you do not want the cover to start immediately.
Not only is it cheap, but their cover includes *Legal Expenses insurance with DAS (a very good insurer in itself), *Breakdown & puncture assistance in europe and UK. *european cover among other things.
I am certainly delighted with the service, price, and quality of these insurers, and recommend them to all bikers. Also note, they do car insurance. I don't know what that's like as I don't drive, but I would ...
