Everest Windows- say this to some people and they get animated- they say how expensive they are, how pushy their salesmen are and how they would never use them.
Some people even mention Ted Moult! (do you remember him with his feather sitting next to a window in the highest pub in England (the Tan Hill) ?? I do!
I don't like to pre-judge and when I hear people slagging companies off I have to make my own mind up...so when I decided to get double glazing, I got several quotations- the other companies were less expensive but they insisted on doing Everest down. The Everest salesman did not mention any other company at all- he just got down to measuring up, putting the details onto some graph paper and giving me a quotation.
The cheaper firms lost their sales that day! I had 15 windows (and they were mostly big ones) fitted about 10 years ago, for a very good price (about £6000). Yes, it seemed fairly expensive then, but I have never regretted it. I have never had a minute's trouble with the windows or the frames, and people that I have known who had their windows fitted after mine have had problems with "blown" sealed units- I have had none of this. The frames are still white and not discoloured.
The windows arrived within 8 weeks of ordering.
The people who came to fit the windows were excellent. They brought the equipment, took out the old windows and removed the rubbish, fitted the new windows and then cleaned up, leaving no mess whatsoever..they even had their own hoover with them! there was some plastering necessary and this was done with no fuss or mess. I can't speak highly enough of these craftsmen.
So when I came round to wanting to do the last few of my windows, I had no hesitation in calling Everest. I have still got the number of the sales office lady who phones from time to time to see if there's anything that I need. They are very good on after sales service and do look after their customer base (good business sense after all!) .She put me in touch with their local rep - my previous one had retired by now. That was a shame becasue he was very good!
Anyway, the rep called and we arranged for him to come and measure up to give me a quotation. He was round the next day. (nothing like sales figures driving your salary, is there?) This time he just had to enter the details onto his laptop and a price awas calculated for him, together with some nice pictures of how the window would look. He made an effort to keep the price down by asking whether I wanted opening windows or not and where I didn't he said that there would be ventilation anyway as it is built in to non-openers.
The windows will be ready within 6 weeks, and I got some good discount, (35%) being an exiting customer. I am having a HUGE window replaced this time along with 3 other biggish windows, and although I know that Everest are not the cheapest on the market, I'm happy that if I ever have anything to ask or fix they will be there. They also do interest free credit now and this came as a nice surprise as I was preparing to pay another way. I'd rather have the money in my bank than theirs!!
The job will take a day- and 2 men will come round. They do fitting on Saturday as well and this is very handy if you want to be there when they fit your new windows but work dutring the week.
Would I recommend Everest? YES!!!If you want the best that lasts a long time then buy from them!! You will not be sorry.

uPVC windows in a Devon cob cottage.
Review of Everest Windows by
Rookgun
Advantages: Sound proofing, insulation, security, low maintenance.
Disadvantages: Cost, dust when installing
...has written a piece on Everest yet. Does that say something about the age of a typical Everest customer? Um.
We live in rural Devon in a cob cottage (basically an Englishman's mud hut), and have struggled with the upkeep of its wooden windows for years. The original oak windows have long gone, the cottage being about 250 years old, and we have had to suffer the previous owners' enthusiasm for cheap deal frames. I had toyed with the idea of plastic ... ...whether there is a ghost Everest firm operating, a sort of fake installer. It's been known. Personally, apart from their rather irritating habit of ringing us up to try to sell us conservatories or plastic doors, I wouldn't hesitate about using them again. Last time I just made it plain that I didn't want to be bothered again, IF they didn't mind. It seems to have shut the sales drongos up. Nevertheless, overall I would still give Everest five stars. ...

Poor overall experience.
Review of Everest Windows by

Advantages: zero
Disadvantages: many
...an update. After our cancellation, Everest finally responded. Read below for this update.
We had a difficult experience with Everest. They proved incompetent and unable to manage our order and deliver our windows. In 2005/06 we had a fairly standard window order with them; it went fine, so we decided to use them again. In July 2006 we placed an order through our local sales rep for two large front lounge windows, ground floor and first floor. A ... ...but are incorrect. I thought Everest should now be falling over itself to try and make it right. The workmen disappeared, and order was evidently sucked into a black hole. For several months we received no updates or progress on our order. Evidently there was activity at the factory level, though no communication to us about anything. From our perspective it seemed nothing was happening, nobody knew anything, and no one really cared. With every call ...

Everest Windows
Review of Everest Windows by

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Cost
Everest Windows
We had a bay window fitted in 2006 by Everest with a sash opening.
The fitters took an afternoon to do the job.Shortly afterwards we noticed the window would not open. Some weeks later another team arrived an attempted a repair. This was to prove the start of a very long running saga.
Our decorator noticed light coming throung under the sill, and was scathing about the workmanship.
It was to be almost 12 months before the window ... ...our case was dreadful.
Everest gave us a quote on downstairs windows - a bay and another sash.Everest quoted a figure of £10000 for two windows. With 'discount' this was brought down to £5000 or so.There was the traditional discount if you 'signed on the day'.We then had a phone call from the salesman who offered to reduce the price by another 50%!
How can the cost of two windows vary from £10000 to £2000 with the same company? In addition the quality ...

Still waiting for Everest windows.....
Review of Everest Windows by
gafferinho
Advantages: Don't know, haven't seen the product yet
Disadvantages: Extremely slow service, appalling customer service, misleading customer service
The Everest woman did a great sales pitch and sold us on the product. (secondary glazing for two sash windows). On siging the Agreement Contract and paying a deposit of £360, she promised us the windows would be delivered in 6-8 weeks.
Three weeks later we recieved a letter from Everest Head office stating that they had started to manufacture the Everest products that we ordered. This was a patent lie.
One month later we had a call from Everest ... ...getting the same response from Everest - 'the factory has run out of windows' and 'we don't know when they'll be ready - we'll call you to let you know'.
I am told that Everest products are very good but at this rate I wonder if I will ever actaully see one.
Needless to say, I would defintely NOT recommend going with Everest. They have an appalling business strategy - selling a service which they cannot supply - and appalling customer service. ...
