Notice: I have modified my review of Everest. The important message of very disappointing service remains, though I have edited out the blow-by-blow detail and written an update. After our cancellation, Everest finally responded. Read below for this update.
We had a difficult experience with Everest. They proved incompetent and unable to manage our order and deliver our windows. In 2005/06 we had a fairly standard window order with them; it went fine, so we decided to use them again. In July 2006 we placed an order through our local sales rep for two large front lounge windows, ground floor and first floor. A £6000 purchase.
Through August and October a surveyor came around twice to take measurements and make drawings. Target date of Jan 27 2007 comes, windows arrive but are incorrect. I thought Everest should now be falling over itself to try and make it right. The workmen disappeared, and order was evidently sucked into a black hole.
For several months we received no updates or progress on our order. Evidently there was activity at the factory level, though no communication to us about anything. From our perspective it seemed nothing was happening, nobody knew anything, and no one really cared. With every call we were told someone would phone back, no one ever did. We had insincere apologoies, but no action.
With dwindling confidence, I read my contract which stated that if installation was not complete after 6 weeks, the customer could serve notice to cancel with refund or balance of refund.
Followed the protocol for cancellation. Even with the written notifications, after 3 months from the installation date, there was no improvement in service, and overall indifference. When I called to confirm the cancellation and claim refund of the deposit, there was still no concern for even this. Major breakdown in customer relations here.
UPDATE: After the cancellation Everest has finally taken notice and is pro-actively working to complete this order urgently. We have had exchanges with and apologies from senior management. A new installation date, only a couple weeks from the cancellation, has been set. It seems they are trying to put it right. Unfortunately it had to reach this point for action to be taken. Will make a final update once windows are in.
