I don't think I have ever done a challenge, apart from book ones…. So I thought it was about time I gave it a shot! Hope I don't bore you too much!
A - Last time you ate an apple?
***********************************
About 3 weeks ago whilst moving house, I was dashing about with car load after car load and just picked one up which is most unusual for me as I only eat fruit if I get there before the kids and/or remember. It was a lovely, crunchy, juicy apple - of the 'Gala' variety I believe and was most yummy.
B - Ever fancied a bungy jump?
**********************************
Absolutely not!! I'm terrified of heights and my legs shake if I am too close to the edge of even a mediocre cliff. Also, I find it difficult to go down escalators as they make my head swim and go dizzy - oddly enough, I'm fine on the ones that go up though!
C - Last time you cried?
**************************
Oh god I cry all the time, it doesn't take an awful lot to set me off. It's been a particularly bad couple of years for me as I divorced last year after 15 years - it was a long time coming and definitely for the best but still involved a lot of tears… anyway, the last time was over an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer which was vaguely emotional but I think that probably the involvement of hormones can be blamed for that one!
D - Last time you danced?
*****************************
Last Friday night when I went out with my brother and his girlfriend and their mates to celebrate her birthday. We went to a local nightclub called Club 2000 where a pal of my brothers was DJing, it was a good night and I danced lots as I always endeavor to on any night out. I LOVE to dance!
E - Do you watch Eastenders?
*********************************
Oh yes! I have watched it from the beginning and it's my favorite of the soaps. I don't watch as religiously as I once did when I would refuse to go anywhere if one of my 'programs' was on (I blame the lack of TV obsession on having a life these days) but I do watch it if I am in and not distracted by anything else.
F - Last time you flew?
*************************
Well, I keep on standing in the garden and flapping my arms but it doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere…..
Ok, I hear the groans…. Sorry…. It must have been about 12 years ago when I went to visit my Dad and assorted family in Ireland (did I say I have a life? Must have been mistaken!). My Nan had been diagnosed with Lung Cancer and so I took my eldest daughter over in order that Nan could meet her first Great Grandchild before she died as the prognosis was very poor. As it happened, she was a fighter and lasted longer than the quacks expected so we went back again a few months later (via ferry) and spent longer with her. Holidays since then have either been non-existent or in this country.
G - Ever been to Germany?
******************************
Nope - wish I was going within the next week or so though - I'm an avid footie fan and would really like to spend the summer yelling at a pitch full of fellas ;-)
H - Last time you had a bad hangover?
*******************************************
A 'bad' hangover? About 2 weeks ago when my boyfriend was here for the week, we spent the afternoon with my brothers watching the FA Cup Final and of course, drinking the odd beer, then met up with my pal and her hubby in the evening for a night's clubbing. How I made is through the night is a mystery to me - and it wasn't without making a fool of myself that's for sure! I felt so bad the next day all I could really do was groan. I walked around town with Stu, my boyfriend with my head on his shoulder most of the time, just feeling sorry for myself…
I - Favourite ice-cream flavour?
**********************************
Mint Choc Chip I reckon, I always seem to buy it anyway…
J - Do you know anyone called Julia?
*****************************************
I do - a friend of mine who I used to work with has a girlfriend called Julia who is also known as Madam Zu - she is a DJ and flies all over the world to play in different locations such as Canada, America, Australia, Japan etc… She also has her own record label and produces music too - in addition to this, she is one of the nicest people I have ever met and definitely hasn't let her fame go to her head.
K - Last time you kissed someone?
***************************************
I kissed my daughter goodnight not half an hour ago… but if we are talking opposite sex then it would be almost 2 weeks ago when Stu went back to Scotland.
L - Are you in love?
*********************
Yup. With Stu whom I met in February, he is a lovely man and I am hoping to spend the rest of my life with him!
M - Last time you moved house?
************************************
I've moved so much over the past 10 years, it makes my head spin! This latest time was about 3 weeks ago following notice to quit in January - I had notice as my landlord was miffed that I had involved environmental health following his failure to fix the roof that leaked so badly it ran down the walls causing horrendous damp. I expect to be moving again within the next couple of years as this is a temporary private let following an application for homelessness - I went down this route in order to gain a permanent let through the local housing association as it is impossible to gain otherwise. Cornwall, especially this area, is a nightmare for housing - even as a family with two children, I would have to wait in excess of ten years for a permanent let if I hadn't gone this route. The problem is that wages are too low and prices too high in this area for local people to buy but because it is such a hot spot for tourism a lot of the privately owned places are holiday lets or second homes for people up the line - add to this that there are nowhere near enough local authority places and you see why the waiting list is so long - you have to work to gain a place near the top of the list or have real problems. Even though the council have put me in this (rather nice but small) house it is one step up from B&B, but they tell me it could still be 2 years before I am made an offer even though I am a priority case!
This is my 8th move in the past 10 years and each time I have moved it has been for a notice to quit from a private landlord due to selling or wanting to move family in etc…
N - Last time you did something naughty?
*********************************************
Define naughty? Anything I can think of offhand, I really don't fancy sharing!
O - Do you like olives?
************************
Bleugh…. nope
P - Any pets?
***************
The kids have a mouse each. My eldest daughter Zoe (13), kept on about how someone at school was selling baby mice and how cute they were… NO! One day we were walking along the beach and she asked me what would I do if she had bought one anyway? Turned out she had it in her pocket - the next day Stu bought her a huge cage for it and before I knew it, Abigail wanted one too… for such small creatures, they don't half pen-an-ink, though they are quite cute. My brother has named Zoe 'Lenny' after the character in 'Of Mice and Men' who I believe also kept a mouse in his pocket….
Q - Are you a quiet or loud person?
**************************************
Depends on the company and amount of alcohol consumed. I can be very quiet around people I don't know, I wouldn't say I am loud at any other time but I do like to be involved in the conversation and am told I am funny and quick-witted.
R - Read a good book lately?
********************************
Haha - don't you read my reviews??? I've just read Ring which is the same as the film, yes. It was a very good book, I enjoyed it and that reminds me, I should review it! Next on the agenda, I have the new Martina Cole to read called 'The Take' - I'm a prolific reader.
S - Any interesting scars?
****************************
I have one on my forehead where a lad chucked a stone at me when I was about 8. My mate and I were building a treehouse when we were attacked by this lad and his mates, the stone hit me just right, just off right between the eyes and I went screaming home with blood pouring down my face. My big brothers camped out on the lads doorstep for about a month wanting to beat him up but he wouldn't come out and they gave up eventually.
T - Enjoy trampolining?
**************************
Oh yes! Can't remember when I last did though, it's a great feeling but I'm not sure I would do the somersault in the air these days!
U - Tell me something unique about yourself?
***************************************************
I consulted Zoe on this one for an objective view - apparently I'm a bit looney and make up odd sayings such as: Cool as Fish (well they are), excellent onions and so forth….
V - What was the last TV programme you videoed?
*******************************************************
God alone only knows, I haven't had a video for ages and haven't yet gone the DVD-RW route - I expect it was Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
W - When was the last time you walked a long way?
*********************************************************
When I went to Scotland to see Stu just over a month ago - he had told me the way to town but my legendary terrible sense of direction had me going the opposite way so we (the kids and I) had to double back and then do the walk to town - all-in-all I reckon we clocked up a good few miles.
X - Ever had an X-ray?
************************
Had an X-ray for a broken ankle as a youngster, a bad back as an adolescent (slipped disc - women of 5'2 that are very slightly built apparently shouldn't take it upon themselves to move huge wardrobes!), and the inevitable dentist ones which I can almost taste just thinking about it!
What did you do yesterday?
**********************************
Yesterday I went to Truro (the nearest 'city' - though I use the term city in it's very loosest form) with my mum, stepdad and the kids. We spent 6 mind-numbing hours of shopping - my mother can spend more time in shops than anyone I have ever met! - I bought a thumb ring for myself, a pressie for Stu as I saw something I know he wants, Doctor Who cards for Abigail and hair dye for Zoe - not much to show for 6 hours is it? After that I went back to my mum's where we had Spag Bol for dinner, had a chat with Sandy, my stepdad who is also an alternative therapist and counselor, then home, kids to bed, surfed and chatted online for a while, then bed - interesting stuff.
when was the last time you went to the zoo?
****************************************************
I really don't remember - I take the kids to a place locally called Paradise Park which has farm animals, exotic birds (lots of), snakes, squirrels etc but even that was a couple of years ago the last time - the nearest zoo here is in Newquay and I have been told the animals all look really bad so I don't fancy it anyway.
Well, I hope I haven't bored you too much people, thanks very much for reading! Kes x
**UPDATE**! I take it all back what I said about Stu - he's a git and I am now happily single again!!!! Just thought I'd share that with you...... Kes :-) x
Great challenge - i have to say its one of the best i've read!!! :-) xxx
