This challenge can be found on thingywhatsit's homepage. This one seems a bit different. At the end of this op, I have given reasons why.
(By the way I have run out of all my A-Z’s and C was the only one option left.)

Certifiable - That is it!

Here are my views on the questions

1. Someone in your cot has written the best review they have ever written. You can see that they have made an exceptional effort. Do you.

A: Give it an exceptional to show them you can see how hard they worked ?

B: Give them a rating based on content and layout

C: Give them the same rating as everyone else did . After all the majority rules.

A.
The person does not have to be in my cot to receive ‘E’ I personally feel effort and hard work goes into these reviews. It is true to say that most reviews do deserve an ‘E’ rating, this is where I try to be balanced. I would normally try to give my reasons why I felt the review deserved its credit.
I can see the wisdom in having the allocated spot allowed, otherwise there can be abuse using ‘more allocations’ allowed. The ‘E’ rating should apply to all members and not just a selected few

.
2. You read a review which you see has loads of exceptional ratings and you really cannot see why because it’s not that special. Do you

A: Give it an exceptional. Why not ? Everyone else did.

B: Rate it what you think it deserves regardless of popular thought.

C. Don’t rate it at all because you don’t want to cause controversy ?
B.
I do not personally look at the ratings; I try not to be influenced by others. If my allocation has run out, there is little I can do, but would try to leave comments. I personally feel this has more benefits. 3. When you rate exceptional what do you think it achieves ?

A: Gives the writer more points ?

B. Gives the writer a chance of sharing the Premium Fund (i.e. money put by to reward the best reviews of the month ?

C. Makes the writer a happy little bunny ?

C & a little of B
Why do I say that? I feel that when the writer writes, he or she writes from personal feelings and experiences. Perhaps one might think that he or she writes with the hope of benefiting from the premium fund, that in itself is ok, but if every one of us wrote with this in mind, what would happen to the inexperienced one? How would that person feel? Inadequacy makes one discouraged and one may tend to find it difficult to measure to that person’s standard. That can be depressing.
We are here to encourage and set the right lead, this is how we all learn. It takes humility to recognize that there are gifted people, I for one am not, but I do try to write what I feel. I have greatly benefited learning from the experienced and gifted writers.

.
4. How many exceptional ratings are you allowed a day ?

A. Three

B. Five

C. Ten

B.
This seems reasonable, I do have alerts, but not all my alerts can benefit from the exceptional ratings. I have read many that I felt were worthy of receiving this type of rating. In all fairness the majority of reviews I have read were worthy of such ratings. If I felt personally that I have benefited, and it so happens to be the next five reviews, then I would give ratings. I try not to show favoritism to the selected few.

5. You read a review written about something really personal like rape or child abuse or something you did not expect to find on Ciao, and you think that the person who wrote it must be exceptionally brave to do so. The English is not that clever, but you still think that the review stands out from the crowd. Do you

A: Rate it exceptional and tell her how brave she/he is.

B. Rate it Very helpful and tell her how brave she/he is.

C. Tell her that it’s a brave attempt but lets face it, her grammar is appalling and it needs to be spell checked.

A
It is not easy to pen down your personal experiences as mentioned above. Reviews I have read have sometimes brought tears to my eyes and one can only visualize in technicolor what went on. This does apply to those whose grammar may not be up to standard. In most cases readers can discern. What I try to do is to understand the writer’s point of view.
We are living in a world where there are different languages; sometimes there are words that can alter its meaning -, English is a good example. When one talks about a gay and happy person, what would the reader discern? The person is a homosexual and is gay? Or the person is bright and pleasant, promoting a feeling of cheer?
It is commendable when one speaks different languages, and using English in writing his experiences must be difficult. The point I derive from his review is that his or her experiences can be of benefit.

6. What is your definition of exceptional ?

A: Something that makes the writer really popular ?

B: Something that stands out on merits of its content, writing style, and completeness.

C: Something that another member wrote that you could not.

B.
The merits, its style, its honesty do deserve the exceptional credit, but it is difficult to be able to rate it as exceptional, especially if your options have run out.

7. Your best friend on Ciao writes a review. It is pretty good but not outstanding although you want to make a statement to encourage her. Do you

A; rate it as exceptional and leave a really nice message because she’s a pal and will give you an exceptional back.

B: Decide that your rating is how you find it, and rate according to the Ciao guidelines.

C: Press very helpful because you can’t be bothered to leave a comment

B.
I do not have best friends here on ciao, all are my friends and all will receive the same treatment from me. I have fondness for some, but that does not influence my decision on whether his review is good but not outstanding. If I felt that it did not meet up to Ciao guidelines, I would honestly commend them for making the effort. There are right times and wrong times. It may well be that the writer may be depressed. I then try not to add further to it. What that person needs is encouragement; true friends would be honest and adjust to the person’s thinking

8. Have you ever read an outstanding piece of work but didn’t have time to comment ? I know I have. Do you ?

A: Press exceptional and leave a “Good op” comment.

B: Save it to favourites and go back when you do have time to give a really helpful comment ?

D. Press very helpful. It’s easier.

B.
I have to be honest I have done all. Sometimes when coming to make comments, previous comments have added what I would normally have written. It depends on many things, but here once again, I use balance

9. Someone rates your review Exceptional and you know it isn’t. It wasn’t one of your good days and it really does not stand out from the crowd. Do you ?

A: Say thanks a lot and give them one.

B: write a message in their personal guestbook and say you are not sure you deserve the rating and think they must have made a mistake.

C: laugh about it and take the exceptional. After all raters have bad days too. What does it matter if you got an exceptional instead of a really exceptional review.

That is a difficult one, as there are many issues related to it. First, when I write, I write to the best of my ability. I respect and am encouraged by the person who has given me an ‘E.' To that person, he or she felt it was good, then this is fair enough for me.

10. The last question requires a little work on your part. Don’t cheat please. I want you to think about your own reviews. Don’t even look but think to yourself which is the review that YOU consider the best review you ever wrote. Each of us has a favourite of our own reviews. Okay, having established which was your best review, go into your home page on another browser, and press the Usefulness button at the top of the review page and see which review Ciao considers the most useful. These are based on ratings and if ratings are accurate, then the one you chose as your best one should come to the top. Does yours :

A: Show your most useful review to be a really naff one that you didn’t put that much effort into ?

B: Give you the result you expected ?

C: Can’t be bothered to look ?

B.
Hehehehe! I sure learnt something here!
I feel honored and privileged that the last few reviews have been favorable. I remembered when I first started the reviews that I wrote at that time were the best I could do. I had vigour and energy, but lacked experience, and it is understandable why such were rated. Looking back I will honestly say what has manifested have come through the reviews. B answered it all!I have copied and pasted the questions.

Thank you Rachel for thinking up such an interesting and thought-provoking challenge. I enjoyed doing it, as it has been quite a long time since I have written. It did encourage me to renew my zeal for writing.

Certifiable ?
Of course!
