Coca-Cola and NDTV collaborated to launch the "Support School" campaign, the movement for Healthy Schools, Active and Happy

~ UN HABITAT, CAF India and Sulabh International to partner on initiatives that aim to reach more than 100 schools and 50,000 students ~

Campaign Ambassador Sachin Tendulkar's first school dedicated Jhundpur campaign in the village (Sonepat) from Haryana to school children.
This campaign will focus on providing a sustainable sanitation facilities, infrastructure development like construction of proper hygienic sanitation facilities for boys and girls, improved access to water, renovating an excuse to promote sport and physical recreation, environment, green building and equipping schools to rainwater harvesting.
The 'My School Support' (SMS) campaigns will also collect donations from the community through programs and campaigns during the telethon to be held by Sachin Tendulkar at mid-2011.
At the launch, Coca-Cola India & UNHABITAT pledged EUR One Crore to Support My School campaign
H'norable Union Minister of Telecom and Regres Human Development (HRD), Kapil Sibal provide support for the campaign.

Mumbai, January 24, 2011: Coca-Cola India and NDTV in their relationships with NGO partners, UN-Habitat, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and Sulabh International, today embarked on a unique initiative - 'My School Support'. The campaign aims to develop a healthy school, active and happy in the cities of rural and semi-urban areas. This movement aims to improve basic facilities in schools and then generate monetary resources for more than 100 schools across the country.

The campaign began with Ambassador Campaign, Sachin Tendulkar opening the campaign logo along with Mr. Atul Singh, President & CEO, Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, and Dr Prannoy Roy, Chairman, NDTV. Also present to give their support, Kapil Sibal, Union Minister of Telecom and Regres Human Development (HRD), Dr Kulwant Singh, Advisor, UN-HABITAT, Mr. Subodh Bhargava, Chairman, CAF India, Ms. Abha Bahadur, Senior Vice President of International Social Organizations Sulabh Service, Actor and Activist Dia Mirza and CEO, CAF India, Amita Puri, actor, Raveena Tandon and MP Priya Dutt and Sanjay Raut ..

Lack of basic facilities in schools not only result in increased absenteeism, but also at the level of high school dropouts, especially among women. Six-month campaign will not only generate awareness about such issues, but also will make the school a model 100 in villages and towns with the help of all partners associated with this campaign.

Some of the activities undertaken as part of this campaign will include the provision of improved access to water, proper sanitation facilities for girls and boys, the overall improvement in infrastructure and the environment, the provision for sport and recreation facilities such as cricket balls, badminton court & basket , swings etc. and replenishment of groundwater through rainwater harvesting.

Speaking on the occasion cricket legend and ambassador of the campaign, Sachin Tendulkar, saying, "I am honored to be associated with a noble campaign It is my belief that multi-lateral partnerships of this kind is the right initiatives to catalyze a movement to build healthier., Active and happy Schools As a firm believer in the cause, I would urge all levels of society to come forward and contribute to school improvement and the overall education system in this country. Jhundpur a school in the village (Sonepat) in Haryana, was the first school that benefited under the "School Support my initiative. This project is supported schools by helping to build the infrastructure works such as hygienic sanitation facilities especially for girls, setting up rainwater harvesting units, providing increased access to water, renovating the sports grounds to promote healthy and active life and improve the environment.

As part of the inaugural contribution to the fund this initiative, Coca-Cola & UNHABITAT has promised Rs. 1 Crore to the School Support my campaign. Campaign during the next 6 months will improve further monetary resources from the public. Fundraising will culminate with a telethon organized by Sachin Tendulka in mid-2011.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Atul Singh, President & CEO, Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, said, "We believe that the role of business in the 21st century is not just about creating shareholder value but also promote environmental sustainability and local community .
