My dearest friends….
Dearest Ciao friends… dear Richard, Duncan, Dave, Jane, Chris, Jules, Millie and, forgive me... I cannot name you all….
First of all I am sorry to send this message through in this slightly silly and totally impersonal manner, I do not mean to be rude or unkind, please forgive the rush in writing this, I just thought it would be the most practical and "far-reaching" way of getting in touch with you all… actually… even before first of all, a big "pre-first of all":….I know that I am not forgivable for having been out of "human" touch for so long…
I have been away; I was in Lebanon for a very long time and I came back a few weeks ago only to find a neighbourhood whose phone lines were down and which stayed down for a period of almost 4 weeks… hence no internet…
However, I have been "mentally and physically taken" by various issues, these being the main reason why I was not able to log onto ciao at all… the story is very long and well… personal, so I will not parade it here… however, I decided to post this little note as I know that many of you were aware that I was in Lebanon and may be worried due to the current state of affairs there…
Thankfully my son and I managed to be back in London before we even had any inkling of the hell that was about to break out… My family and friends are safe (may they stay so…), however I am told that the situation is more than dire, more than bad, more than sad….
In any case… as I said before, this is simply meant as a note to let you all know that I am back in London and that my son and I are, luckily, safe.
I will try to log onto Ciao at some point next week to read my guestbook messages but forgive me if I do not reply to you straight away, I may not have time to. Those of you who have my personal email address may of course write to me there, I have started clearing the 239,798,98797 messages I had.. so… I should be able to see yours… : )
I doubt that I will be able to write on Ciao again at any point in the near future but those of you who wish to keep in touch with me outside of Ciao can leave me their email address and I will mail them as soon as I have the time….
I will however, try to write a little "text" on the current state of affairs in Lebanon, as seen through the eyes of its entire population, who is NOT, for the most part, pro-Hizbollah in ANY way, and that includes a huge part of the muslim population as well. Indeed, over 80% of the Lebanese population has nothing to do with Hizbollah and DOES NOT support them!!… I hope I will have time to write this, just to try and shift the balance on the "truthful" side of things… as opposed to what one sees on the television… why o why do they only show these crazy fanatics and why o why do they not speak to the rest of the Lebanese people who do NOT see Nasrallah as their saviour… but as the instigator of the destruction of a country that has been limping back into some sort of normality and finally managing to raise a leg again… now both its legs have been broken again… As if they didn't know what Israel would do… How many stabs can a heart take before it dies? Why does an entire nation have to pay for the imbecility and provocation of a few? Well… I hope I can write a proper "review" on this…. In any case…
Once more…please forgive the extremely impersonal character of this message… which is obviously not meant to be rated!!!
I have not forgotten you all… I have not believe me but sometimes, as many of you well know, life steers you in directions that lead to roads that keep others out view and out of reach, but never too far from the heart….
