Two years ago, July 20th 2001, I was at home in Milan, and I had my small radio on: I was listening the news from the Social Forum in Genoa. Suddenly, at 5.20 p.m., the entire world crashed on me. The reportage was something so horrible, I can't explain it properly.

THE news was that a boy, Carlo Giuliani, was dead. They said it was attacking a policeman, trying to kill him...

Surely you know the rest of the story. The policeman was a boy himself, 22 years old.

But there is another part of the story, that the major press never told completely.
There were a lot of people in Genoa, a lot of pacific people: families with babies, ancient people, young people, middle aged people. AND a group of Black Blocks, really violent and determined in destroy anything... but they were only a small group.

The results: the policemen hit with incredible violence a mass of pacific people without a reason.

I heard (I probably will never forget...) a girl crying: she was explainig that her group (a group assembled from a church near Genoa) was sitting in a street when policemen arrived and began to hit them on their heads, to kick them, to menace them of death.
The girl had both her arms crashed, because she was protecting her head.

I heard a lot of histories that damned day... you probably shoudn't believe in what I heard.
Do you know the proverb 'Italians do it better'?
Yes, we do a lot of things better and is that damned day of two years ago someone in Italy decided that freedom must dye.

They prepared a well done trap to 'find the death', and they did it really well.

But... to really finish their dirty work they should have killed anyone in Genoa and all the people like me that weren't in Genoa at that early moment, but that now will always be in Genoa for ever.
-----------------
Last Sunday, in Genoa, thousands of people was in Alimonda square (for us, from two years ago - and forever - this square is 'Carlo Giuliani Square) to remember Carlo, don't to forget what happened there.

They had bendages on their mouth: because the silence falled down on the entire history in these two years, and the 'justice' found no guilty.

Carlo's blood will never be canceled from our memories but we know that no one will pay for the hundreds of pacific people that payed with their blood the right to demonstrate their ideas in a pacific way.
-----------------------------------------------------
What I wrote is another part of the history, the part you'll never find in a newspaper...

There is a lot of Italian people who think that not only Carlo Giuliani was a dangerous killer, but that all the people that were in Genoa two years ago were dangerous terrorists, and possible killers.

Now, reading what I wrote, you can know what WE think, and WE represent the other side of the medal: for the majority of people WE are guilty, for the media WE are guilty, for a lot of Italians WE are bad people, because good people never demonstrate against the Government.

In this link, if you speak Italian, you can find the histories of the people hit by the policemen in Genoa two years ago.
