Beware Evesham it's not what it used to be!
Advantages Brilliant systems if they work
Disadvantages Terrible third party repairs or rather lack of repairs!
Over the years I had bought two desk top PC's from Evesham plus inherited a very old second hand one. All of them were faultless; one was even repaired just a month off the 3 year warranty and upgraded too, at no extra cost.
So last year, when I wanted a notebook, I did not even look at other companies but went straight to Evesham and had a £999 notebook delivered, with the added security of 3 year onsite warranty!
From day one the notebook did not work properly, often failing to shut down, freezing, and crashing. I contacted Evesham and was told it was user error. I assured them I did know what I was doing, and had 2 other home systems that did not behave like this. I kept a log and photographs off all the errors. Eventually Evesham said they would pick up the notebook, apparently it is in the small print that onsite doesn't mean onsite, if they don't want it to!
I waited in all day for collection, then 2 weeks later the notebook was returned to me, and I was told there was no fault. This happened three times! Each time a day waiting for collection and delivery! Oh joy! Each time the notebook failing to work on return. Eventually I went bonkers, and managed to get Evesham to agree to get a senior technician to look at it. He found it had a major memory fault, which he fixed and it was returned! I asked why 3 other engineers missed this fault, and was told they send it to the third party for repair!!
The notebook continued to have faults. They continued to take it back and send it to their third party. In the end I refused to have the notebook back and refused to sign for it when it was returned. I contacted Consumer Direct and followed their advice.
Evesham finally agreed to let their senior technician look again, and the same day, offered me a replacement! They still won't tell me what he found, but clearly it must've been something, as their attitude changed!
The new notebook has been faultless so far.
This has certainly put me off a company that previously is the only one I would've considered. They don't give you any one person to deal with in a problem. If you complain to the MD about customer care, customer care deal with the complaint, so a bit pointless.
I hear now that they are going bust, which is sad, but no surprise to me following my awful experience. At home warranty is a joke for notebooks although they do seem to honour it for desk top PCs!
