This is, indeed, a truly great game and more like it should be made. However games like this are not as mainstream as they deserve and as such often fail to be refined to the level some achieve.

The concept is simple and follows in the footsteps of 'Dungeon Keeper' and 'Dungeon Keeper 2' where instead of playing the hero out to save the world; you are a bond-esque style super villain out to conquer it.

Base designing is satisfying, blasting corridors and rooms out of a mountain (because of course every evil lair has to be underground!) and there are a large variety of rooms and objects to be researched. You protect your base against government agents with a large number of ingenious traps, cameras and gun toting henchmen. Traps range from air turbines in the wall to blast intruders back the way they came through to tesla coils and gun turrets in a slightly less subtle form of defence.

Each mission has certain different goals for example, kidnap a maid and interrogate her to unlock a new class of henchman or simply gain vast amounts of cash or artefacts by sending your minions out into the world to steal.

As mentioned in the advantages there is a great level of Style and humour present which really made this game memorable for me. interrogation, traps and general decor is very stereotypical and over the top, traps are suitably ludicrous and amusing and I shall personally never tire of 'torturing' the government spy using a variety of seemingly innocent base facilities such as the food processor and bookcases!

There are a number of issues that annoy however, for example when creating a base from which to deploy a doomsday weapon surely one would not do so on an island frequented by tourists? these are a regular problem and tend to set off traps in your base and cause general havoc, not to mention a large number of body bags to dispose of unless you go to all the effort of creating a hotel to keep them occupied in which seems a bit of an unnecessary bolt on to the game.
As also mentioned above minion intelligence is less than exemplary and they often blunder into your own traps even getting killed in the process.
The game can also get very hard on later levels with constant attacks from all governments in the world and the appearance of almost indestructible super agents.

Overall the game is thoroughly enjoyable the music, graphics and general feel of the game makes you really feel like a 60's villain and there is no end to the little touches you notice the more you play

Although the game is getting old now I thoroughly believe it is one that can stand the test of time, it's just as playable now as it was when released and if you haven't tried it you should give it a go.

Go forth...and show the world what a TRUE evil genius is.
