Advantages: Reasonable prices for a quality instrument. Disadvantages: Wont meet the requirements of the most advanced players.
...Buffet make beautiful flutes - i would recomend buying one which has a split Ekey which helps reach those pesky high notes! (ask the sales person for details on this).
Buffets silver coated flutes are perfectly good for a begginer/intermediate player but someone requiring something more advanced will want to spend more and but a model with a silver head joint.
They can be bought from all good music supliers but i would recomend looking into buying second hand - you will be able to buy one of their more expensive flutes for a more reasonable price. I have purchased a good model wih solid silver head joint for £500 - which s very reasonable. The mechinisms on their flutes are brilliant and very rarely need servicing and the pads on the keys are very hard wearing.
Probably the best flutes on the market for non-proffesional players....

...The Sennheiser E835 is a fantastic mid-range dynamic mic. I own a few and use them on live vocals cutting through a band, speech for awards shows, as well as 'emergency' tom-tom mics in a recording environment! They have excellent feedback rejection and a good warm tone. To hold, the mics are nice and weighty and have low handling noise. I believe this mic in the Evolution range is the best mic performance/price wise. A recommended purchase.
My personal opinion is to get the E853, not the 'S' version as I like to have control of my mics from my desk, and not let the 'talent' have the responsibility of switching things on and off- its all bound to go wrong!
My E835s have cost under £50 all brand new, boxed via respected eBay shops. Have a look there before you splash out £69 from some internet websites.
Easily a good Shure SM58...

Advantages: More gain than you'll ever need, 120 watts Disadvantages: Muddy clean tone, two channels but only one set of EQ
...Paul and a PRS), the best idea is to just roll back your volume on the dirty channel - this reduces the distortion to practically a clean tone and is much brighter. In addition, rolling into a higher level of gain via your guitar is much more effective and sonically pleasing than stomping the footswitch! On the other hand, if you are using a guitar with high-output pickups (eg. my RG 550 with Evolutions) this tactic will nto work - the consolation is that these pickups are much brighter anyway and significantly improve the 5150's clean tone!
Other factors worth talking about - the presence and resonance dials can alter your tone dramatically. Once again, with the presence set high the clean tone can be improved but then the gain channel becomes way too cutting for my liking. There is also a 'crunch' and 'bright' switch for the clean...

So, the second best football game ever made gets a release on the PSP. For shame that few remember the gloriously addictive Sensible Soccer (from the halcyon days of the Amiga) as the title would be perfect for Sony's venture into the arena of handheld... more
Well, being an avid FIFA player for the last 8 years I wasn't as excited about this title as many others were as i had never played a 'pro evo' game in my life! However i didn't know just how wrong i was! This games is immersive, fun and you can pick it... more
Now then, this was the one I'd been waiting for. See, I understand that £50 is a lot to part with for a game (though I saw pre-release copies of this going on eBay for £200 just 2 days before the official release date, which is just daft). But those... more
