Disadvantages: Far too basic with lots of irrelevant info

...Unix is a huge subject and Unix for Dummies really does not hit on it fully enough. Whilst it copes with explaining basic commands, such as ‘ls’ and ‘rm’, it really is too basic to be of much use. Too much time and effort is spent on the internet side: after all, who would want to connect to the internet using Unix when there are decent Web Browsers around? Or is it just coincidence that the authors also wrote Internet for Dummies…? If you are completely new to Unix and have very little programming knowledge, this book might be fairly useful for you. ...This is another great installment of the "For Dummies" line of books and manuals. Office 2007 Is a great addition to the "For Dummies" books, with the release of Office 2007 from Microsoft many people, including myself, were mystified and dumbfounded as well as confused because of the many changes that they made to the product and the lack of documentation and support for the product. This book changes everything, it explains how to do anything you would ever need to do in Office 2007 from Word to Excel to Access and even Power Point. It was truly a lifesaver when it came time to upgrade to Office 2007 from Office XP and everything was different and was an entirely new world to me and my colleagues. Advantages: A great use to experienced Webmasters who wish to enhance their site
Disadvantages: Of little use to complete beginners

...'. With a brief flick through the contents, I saw a whole section devoted to 'Building Your Site'. Perfect. Exactly what a beginner like me would be looking for, right? Wrong. Throughout the book it is geared towards those who already have knowledge of programming, or preferably a website they want to enhance. The section on how to 'Build Your Website' was lacklustre. It explained only very small snippets of code, which did not go far in producing a sleek site. It did of course explain these well, as the you would expect from such a high-quality series, but the depth of the code just wasn't there, and it just wasn't possible to build a site with the help of this book.
