Wow the title is a bit of a sweeping statement but then, I don't usually mince my words....in a way it is true that expedia fund my holidays because I save so much cash booking most of my itinerary through them it enables me to fund other aspects of my Holiday..
For the last three years I have booked all my travel almost exlusively on the Internet, from rail travel down to London to Flights half way across the world, I have searched all corners looking for that elusive bargain and cheap deal...but so far ( taking into account my criteria) I think as far as Air travel is concerned Expedia has come up trumps..
Return Flights Manchester to Atlanta in February 2003, one night accomadation in or near to Atlanta Airport, 19 days car hire ( with ALL taxes and extras prepaid) overnight accomadation in South Gerogia close to the State line in each direction and overnight accomadation at Manchester airport plus car parking for 20 Days...
Expedia quoted me for the lot although I didn't buy everything with them...I did buy my flight tickets from them, they quoted the best price at £250 all in inc taxes with seat numbers pre-booked in each direction with Delta Airlines, most other online agents were quoting £360 return...I eventually booked my car direct with Dollar Car Rental in Windsor ( I usually end up with Dollar), and Hotels I have booked direct with the Hotels, Manchester cost me £85 at the Moat house which includes 15 Day car parking free and a free transfer bus to the airport, the Double trees at Atlanta Airport quoted me $69 for a room and I am waiting for expedia to quote me for en route accomadation...
I have to say that thus far it is best to search the web and note your quotes, but as far as Flights were concerned I found Expedia very hard to beat...and my tickets for the flight arrived within 5 days.....They have an on lne support desk, you can oarrange quotes for flights, hotels, car hire, foreign domestic flights and traun journeys, you can also arrange for travel guides, and email them for information...they are your on line travel agent who do not charge high prices for using their services, in fact they dont directly charge you anything...so they have to be good to remain trading, they can pass on considerable savings by trading on the internet, you benefit from low prices but not an inferior travel itinerary ..
you need to register with Expedia ( free ) give them your details and credit/debit card and Passport number, flight preferences ( Window/Aisle) food ( Meat//Vegetarian etc...) and when you book through Expedia they will ensure that all yur preferences are passed onto the Airline, which saves you having to deal with them separatley...
Based on my latest experiences I can honestly recommend Expedia, and will update this Op as soon as I have more info from them.........

It's a shame they don't sell Scheduled Airline Failure protection like all the other travel agencies (including ebookers and thinkflights.com). It's nice to know that for £3 or so you won't have to buy a new ticket if your carrier goes bust while you're abroad.

I think I booked a flight for my mum with these and they were very good.

Good op. Keep it up. In your op, you implied that expedia accept debit card. Can you confirm?
