FreeAgent Desktop External Hardrive

Advantages: Looks good and easy to use
Disadvantages: None really - transfer speed could be better but could be down to my computer as much as anything

I have never had any major problems with this hard drive reliabilitty wise it's very good - the transfer speed isn't excellant but it does the job, and i generally use it it for bulk storage/ backup and i normally have it set it off copying in the background so i don't notice it too much anyway, and it's quite too which helps. In my opinion for a desktop external hard drive it has a very good design, and is smaller than some with the same disk space. ...

First MyBook in my shelf

Advantages: large capacity, standby mode
Disadvantages: only USB

This MyBook is the first largest capacity external drive I ever had. I have been saving some money for some quite time to finally purchase this product. The Look and Features MyBook from western digital has a very simple design, simillar to an average book from a library shelf with round front side. With black piano finish with overall look so simple and less futuristic design. MyBook Essential is one of the low-end products with minimal features. ...
...front side is just a line of LED for indicating that the device is turned on or read/write activities. The connectivity this drive uses only USB 2.0. with mini the only one mini-USB port at the back side and connected to a normal USB port of your computer. Performance The first thing to do when I opened the package was I immediately plug it in then back up the existing pre installed softwares from the drive, and then i re-formatted the drive ...

Review of My Book Essential Edition 2.0 WDH1U10000 1 TB

Great capacity hard disk for the price, stylish and simple too.

Advantages: Great Value, very reliable
Disadvantages: Short cables, and shows up fingerprints

I purchased the LaCie 1TB as my first external hard drive, about 6 months ago. I wasn't sure how much space I would be needing, but as the LaCie was on offer for £75 for 1TB I couldn't really resist. The promotional literature for this Hard disk seems to keep reminding us that it was designed by Neil Poulton, someone who I'm not aware of, but must be pretty good judging by the design of this product. It is rare when talking about an external hard ...
...what is included? well, the LaCie supports lots of different transfer methods, I used the firewire, but it also comes with cables for USB and a few others, I think this choice is great. Unfortunately the cables are very short, which would be fine if you want the hard disk to sit right next to your desktop PC. But I'm using a laptop, and the nearest desk, which was only a short distance away, was too far for the cable to reach. I had to resort to ...

Review of LaCie Hard Disk Design by Neil Poulton Hard drive 1 TB

Pocket size drive with good space, but sometimes confusing

Advantages: Fast transfer speed, nice design, pocket size light-weight drive, good storage space
Disadvantages: Quite confusing interface, not always easy to use

This is a great little hard drive, although the installation was a bit harder than I expected. Your data is kept really safe as it is encrypted. Password needed. You can separate sessions for different computers which is useful when you have alot of things. The WD software is pretty good, not the average storage interface, and sometimes difficult to manipulate if you want to copy things from the hard drive to the computer. It gets slightly confusing ...
