I purchased the LaCie 1TB as my first external hard drive, about 6 months ago. I wasn't sure how much space I would be needing, but as the LaCie was on offer for £75 for 1TB I couldn't really resist. Unfortunately the cables are very short, which would be fine if you want the hard disk to sit right next to your desktop PC. lacie hard drive review

Advantages: looks nice, works fine and i havent broken it yet!
Disadvantages: on/off button a little fiddly, short usb cable (can be extended)

I am a VERY clumsy person and this thing has inevitably been dropped, thrown, kicked, trodden on and sat on. It still works. recently it's started making quite a loud noise but that was after being thrown off a bed while being read from so I think thats my fault, not the product. it looks neat and is really compact. because it's flat you can have it whichever way up you want and you can put stuff on top of it which is always a plus. on/off switch ...

I then found out that they will not honor their guarantee even after a specialist data recovery firm using all the required clean rooms recover the data.
