Manufacturer's product description

The amazingly powerful and compact Summit X450 series is the first fixed-format switch based on the revolutionary ExtremeWare XOS core-class operating system. The Summit X450 series uses the same high-performance, non-blocking hardware technology used on Extreme's BlackDiamond 8800, continuing Extreme Networks' tradition of simplifying network deployments through the use of common hardware and software throughout the network. An extremely versatile switch, the Summit X450 is equally at home as a small network core switch, aggregation switch, high performance gigabit access switch, or as a service delivery platform for Metro Ethernet networks. Included with this compact 1RU package are 24 ports of fiber or 24 ports of copper gigabit connectivity plus option 10 gigabit uplinks. Its low-latency non-blocking design supports high throughput applications and converged voice-video-data network services. The Summit X450 series includes a versatile set of features including advanced LPM layer 3 switching normally not found in a fixed format switch, IPv6 routing, multiple supplicant Network Login, sFlow delivering traffic sampling and analysis, plus essential Metro Ethernet networking features such as vMAN tag stacking for provider bridging and granular QoS with multiple limiters per port. The versatile Summit X450 is an ideal cornerstone of any high-performance network.

Great little network switch,
Review of NETGEAR GS608 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch - switch - 8 ports by  CatchUp

Advantages: Sleek, small, easy to use
Disadvantages: Not wall mountable

...This switch has been a great addition to my network. It allows for fast transfer sppeds and i have been using for over 3 months now with no problems. Unluckily it is not wall mountable which would have been useful, but it comes with some legs which can be used to stand it on its side. The lights on the front are very useful for indicating whether the connected device is operating at 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps. The device gets slightly warm, but no more than other electronic devices. Overall i am very pleased with this switch, it was very easy to set up; I just plugged it in and it worked. The included intructions are also very clear, with clear illustrations. I have quite a few Netgear items in my network along with some other brands and i always find i can rely on the Netgear equipment. Overall a very solid piece of equipment.... Read review

Xbox 360 network Adapter
Review of Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter Network adapter by  JohnRedcorn

Advantages: Cute,Compact,Attachable
Disadvantages: Weak signal,Very expensive

...Microsoft and their proprietary products are poor performance, and too expensive. This adapter detects the same network my pc adapter detects but only 1 bar of signal. My pc adapter has 5 bars on the network. The xbox adapter must not have an omni antenna and the gain is probably 1dbi.I tried to opened this crap and put a higher gain antenna but the connector is a sub micro connector specially made for microsoft to screw us.I still could have rigged a better antenna, but i accidentally lost an ic chip trying to pry this thing apart, now there goes 70 bucks, never again. Fortunately i discovered linksys sells a universal game adapter (part number WGA54G),the adpater is also pc compatible, why isnt the xbox adapter pc compatible?Anyway, the linksys has an omni antenna and yes its removable to get a better omni. The signal is 5 to 15 times... An Extremely Reliable Network Printer
Review of HP LaserJet 4050n by  anonymili

Advantages: A very reliable workgroup printer
Disadvantages: It's been discontinued

....99 from cartridgesave.co.uk - it has a page life of about 6,000 pages based on 5% page coverage. You could also get the C4127X toner which has a life of about 10,000 but costs a bit more depending on where you purchase it £79.99 (from cartridgesave.co.uk). Personally I'd rather pay the £10 extra and get 4,000 pages more, wouldn't you? I'd also mention that it's very easy to remove the toner cartridge and replace with a new one. I'm quite experienced at fiddling with printers when they have jams (which I'd add I haven't experienced with this printer) and changing toner cartridges but generally I'd say that changing the toner is as easy as pie! FOOTPRINT The printer is 13.3 inches in height by 15.4 in width and over 24 inches deep. It weighs just under 18 kilos (without the print cartridge installed). Overall it's quite big... Read review
