When I'd see Sharon Osbourne on programs such as the Osbournes and the X-factor what I would see was first and foremost a self-confidant, independent woman. She seemed to me to have the right mix of compassion and attitude. When I saw the autobiography I wanted to buy it to see how she had become this way. We never know what is under the surface of famous people. Was she instilled with the confidence from a young age by a loving family or has she developed it in spite of the life she had. What would it be like to be married to someone who has battled all his life with rumours, drugs and alcohol to then see your children begin to go the same way. When I saw this in the shops I couldn't resist the opportunity to find out.
I had known she had an autobiography but at that point it had been consigned to the long list of books in my head that I wanted to read and I hadn't really thought much more about it. What initially caught by eye about this book was the cover, with vivid red and purple lettering and of course Sharon's own startling red hair on the front of a glossy hardback I couldn't help but notice the book propped up on the shelf of my local book store. So off to the cashiers desk to part with my hard earned (well ok at the moment technically just earned) cash and off I trundled home. There was no-one in the apartment so I made myself a coffee got comfortable and opened up my new book.
I'm not sure why but there is something so much more satisfying about opening a brand new hard back than opening a brand new paperback! The book is average size for a hardback so will be great for looking pretty on your shelf, not so great for popping in your handbag to carry around with you.
Well about time I actually got into the book....
By her own admission Sharon has lived "50 lives in 50 years". the first part of the book details her life as the daughter of Rock Manager Don Arden, from an early age she is surrounded by rock stars and the lifestlyes they lead. Sharon was an over weight unhappy child seeking approval from her father and as a result allowed herself to be used in various guises by her father. Her father is a constant figure who haunts her physically and mentally well into her adult life.
She expresses in Candid detail her relationship with Ozzy from when they meet and he is still married through to the present day. It seems nothing is off the record as she lays bare all the sordid details from affairs to abuse. Ozzy although constant in the book is not paramount to it. The book is about Sharon about how she had made a name for herself in the music business before she became Ozzy's wife and carried on doing so afterwards.
The book brings us with Sharon from her tramautic early years through, drugs, drink, debts, robberies, plane crashes and cancer right up to the X-factor and her relationship with Simon Cowell.
I don't want to give too much away, so as not to detract from the book, suffice to say there things in this book I wouldn't have imagined, surprises as well as well known things. It is certainly worth reading before making any judgement upon her.
My Opinion....
I was literally gripped by this book and finished it two days. It definitely makes me see Sharon and to a lesser extent Ozzy in a completely different light.
This is a woman who has had more thrown at her in her life than most but instead of allowing herself to be beaten she has worked and worked to use these things to better herself, sometimes making painful decisions along the way. She has suffered other's consequences moreso than her own and has always picked herself up, dusted herself off and carried on.
Although I knew from hearing news reports that she has had cancer, I felt so sad when I got to that part of the book, I felt she had battled so much and come so far that to then be hit with this was such a cruel twist of fate.
The writing is clear and fluid, chapters flow easily into the next with an excerpt from the present day at the beginning of each. I thought that the excerpts were a brilliant touch as it served to highlight the difference between her life then and now and was a stark reminder of how far she had come. The book is written in a similar way to the way she speaks with one of the opening lines being "Is it just me, or is everything sh*t?"
The book became the biggest selling hardback autobiography since records began, selling over 621,000 copies and beating second place (David Beckham) by over 100,000, so it can't be just me that thinks it's good.
I would definitely recommend you buy this book, just make sure to clear a space in your calender when you do because you won't be able to put it down!

Advantages: Funny, Informative and Witty Disadvantages: Vulger and full of bad language
...and determination.
In conclusion, the language is pretty colourful and some of her tricks shocked me. Her story itself is truley Extreme and definalty one to read.
I totally loved reading this particular book. I have always enjoyed biographies mainly because I am a nosey parker...everyone says so. ...

Advantages: A thoroughly enjoyable read. Disadvantages: None.
I wasn't a huge fan of Sharon Osbourne, I liked her, but didn't think enough so to read her autobiography. I was very wrong.
The book is well written, fluid, humourous and thoroughly readable. Sharon Osbourne shocks with tales of falings out and dalliances with not only her family, but with well know celebrities too.
There are several photos in the book too for readers to reflect on the Golden days of Ozzie! Sharon writes in a frank, honest and ... ...the book down so don't be suprised if you finish it all in one or two sittings.
The book is not all jokes and shocking tales..it also touches the heart with very honest revelations from Sharon about the heartbreak she has been through, right from before she even met Ozzy. This book talks about her terrible relationship with her father, the Black Sabbath days, her music managing career, her battle with cancer and her daughter aimee, who stays out ...

Advantages: An addictive read Disadvantages: I read it so quickly that I wanted more.....
I was given the book for Christmas (and so cannot comment on prices, although I see it is now heavily reduced in my local high street) and started to read as soon as the school term began and I had a few hours to myself. Sharon drew me in to her rollercoaster life and I finished the book in double quick time. My husband is reading it now and we both agree that we would not want to live the Osbourne life for all the tea in China.
We have been Ozzy ... ...man and his family until the MTV show, the Osbournes. But according to the book this is only the more glamorous part of their lives!!
Sharon had the sort of life that would have made me suicidal and has survived all that has been thrown at her to become a well loved personality.
Sharon's life story is written as a history from her childhood to the present day. The end of each chapter has a page or two describing what is happening at the time that ...

Advantages: Great read, real page turner. Disadvantages: None
This book details the life and loves of SharonOsbourne, wife, moher, businesswoman, tv star, producer and former X-Factor retail judge.
Sharon is wife to Ozzy Osbourne from Black Sabbath and mother to Jack, Kelly & Aimee.
Sharon had quite a terrible upbringing at the hands of her father who was also Ozzy's manager for many years and proceeded to steal a large chunk of Ozzys fortune in early days which led to Sharon eventually taking over as Ozzy's manager which definitely seemed to help shape his career.
There have been many ups (and more downs) in Sharons life and she talks about them in quite graphic detail in this book.
Sharon gives off the impression that she is very fiery and independent but I think that deep down she really needs her family around her to help keep her strong and to give her something to fight for ...
Advantages: Very well written with good use of pictures Disadvantages: Very very hard to put down
I had been wanting to read SharonOsbourne's autobiography since seing her on The X-Factor. I was not disappointed. This book takes you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions, from shock, sadness and pity to side-splitting laughter.
From the moment i started reading I found it difficult to put down, I was addicted.
Extreme gives you a great insight into celebrity life and makes you realise how difficult it really is. I have utmost respect for SharonOsbourne to have overcome everything she has been through in her life to become the amazing person she is today.
I have never been interested in autobiographies before, thinking them boring, but this book has certainly changed my opinion.
SharonOsbourne is a fantastic woman with great strength of character.
Extreme - a must read! ...
Advantages: AN INTRIGUING INSIGHT INTO THE PRIVATE LIVES OF SHARON AND HER FAMILY Disadvantages: SWEARING..but if you know sharon osbourne you know theres going to be some
Wow what more can i say?!?
Its not very often a book kind of hits you between the eyes and makes you see some in a totally different light..The book goes from sharon being a youngster to the strong sometimes loud and very opinionated woman that she is today..This biography may be the same as others you may say but i can assure you this is not the case.We all know she is married to one of the worlds maddest rockers and may even be from one of the most outspoken families in history but by god has this woman been to hell and back..
The trouble with her Father,The affair she had with the man she later married and against the odds is still married to today.
Trust me if you really want a book that takes you personally through the good and bad times with them then this is the book to buy..I havent been able to put this book down ...
