Extreme makeover does exactly what it says on the tin so to speek, it is a show that completely rebuilds a new house.
The show is made in America and is aired on sky tv on uk style channel 246 and 247 and is on at various times most days.
The programme starts off by showing you the families homes before the makeover and the conditions they put up with and live in, some are really bad. The host Ty and his crew then show you what the plans for the new home. Then they call in the bulldozers and completely demolish the house, I love this part of the show it just get stuck in and ripped to pieces.
You are then shown the start of the new building, which doesnt take them long at all, not like it would be in England it would take us months to build!!
It is now time for the big reveal, the families are taken round their brand new home and shown each room, the kids faces are the best they just cannot believe such special things are done fo them.
The families that this is done for each have very sad stories as to why they need this, I saw one this morning and it was about a family, they had three children, two girls and one boy, the two girls were both in wheelchairs and their mother literally had to carry them into each room of their house because the home they lived in had stairs everywhere and the wheelchairs could not go into the rooms as it was too heavy, the children were getting too heavy to be lifted and the mother was becoming ill herself due to the carrying everywhere, she also had to get up two times a night to check on her oldest daughter because she had a condition that could make her stop breathing, so the mother used to go in and check she has her oxygen still in place.
I always end up crying at some of the stories and in the end the faces of the families is lovely when they see their brand new home.
As with anything American this show is BIG and sometimes a little over the top, but I watch it because of the lovely stories with a happy ending, but it is not a show I could watch everyday as it would get on my nerves I think, because of the hyper crew and over the top hysteria, but to watch it now and then makes it quite good viewing.
