m-eye experience at Optical Express.
Review of LASIK Eye Surgery by
bekiboo13
Advantages: 20/20+ vision, no more glasses
Disadvantages: painful after surgery (2hours), rushed through proceedure, customer service level
...to go for the wavelength lasik treatment which cost around £1600. I chose Optical Express in Nottingham because it was near to my home, a reasonable price and because of their experience in the laser treatment worldwide.
My pre-treatment vision was not too bad but i did not like wearing glasses and found putting in contacts frustrating. As i'm in my twenties i thought the treatment would pay for itself over time, as i was paying £100 - 200 for glasses ... ...and i was not rushed through the tests, however i found the level of service dipped after this point. When i visited the store to set up a payment plan the assistant made me feel i was putting her out ( it was 10 mins til closing, and the store was quiet) then 3 days before treatment i had a phonecall saying they had double booked the surgeon and he had to do NHS treatments that day, they didn't seem particulary bothered that i had booked a day off ...

My experience of Laser Eye Surgery
Review of LASEK Eye Surgery by
purplelynne
Advantages: To be able to see unaided
Disadvantages: Expensive
IF YOU JUST WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE PROCEDURE ITSELF, SCROLL DOWN TO THE TREATMENT SECTION
I was sixteen when I first started wearing glasses. Discovering that I actually needed glasses was a weird and uplifting experience that I will never forget. I It was a lovely, hot summer day and I was in the park with my friend, who was just off to the optician to have her annual check-up. I didn't realise she even wore glasses, she had kept it a secret for ... ...them on for a laugh. And the results were amazing. I could see! The sky looked bluer, the details on people's faces were clearer and I could see every blade of grass. It was an amazing and bizarre experience. I realised then that I needed to have an eye test. I've been wearing either glasses or contact lenses ever since. Initially I just wore my glasses for driving, however, my sight has got progressively worse until it reached the point that I couldn't ...

Optimax laser eye surgry (LASIK Glasgow)
Review of Optimax Laser Eye Clinics by
linddel
Advantages: Being able to see without glasses!
Disadvantages: The discomfort during surgery.
...LASIK carried out at the Optimax clinic in Glasgow on Monday 30th April by Dr Anwar. My prescription was -3.75 and -5 with slight astigmatism in both eyes. I checked this forum before I went and was slightly worried by the lack of info on the Glasgow clinic. I went ahead anyway (maybe not too sensible!) and it was all fine. The worst thing about the whole thing was the wait. I had my consultation at 9am and then the surgery at about 3pm which meant ... ...came to it Dr Anwar and the assistants made me feel at ease. He talked all the way through and explained exactly what was going on. It took about 20 mins I think, which passed really quickly. I had read that people find it 'uncomfortable' which I thought meant it was painful. It wasn't at all painful and the discomfort was really just that it felt a bit weird to have people prodding at your eyeballs! Even in on the day of the surgery I felt no pain ...

I CAN SEE !!!
Review of PRK Eye Surgery by
Birky
Advantages: The miracle of vision
Disadvantages: Cost and a few pre surgery worries
...I had to have the PRK procedure. I was a little worried as the procedure used is a little dated and the healing time takes a little longer as only the surface cells of the eye are touched by the laser, but my fears were reassured. I asked my surgeon what all the risks were and he said the worst thing that could happen was that it wouldn't work and I would still need glasses. I had to take someone with me to drive me home as after the consultation ... ...the drops used in the eye scan to assess my suitability to surgery
When the surgery day arrived I was terrified!!! Drops were placed in my eyes and my eyeballs became numb, it was the strangest feeling I have ever experienced in my life. The surgery took place while I was awake which was very weird. Little clamps were placed around my eyes to keep them open (painless) and I had to look straight ahead. It was quite funny really I had to stop myself ...

I was blind, now I can see...
Review of Bristol Ultralase Treatment Centre by
steerpyke
Advantages: painless and simple
Disadvantages: expensive
...I headed down to the Bristol Ultralase treatment centre the just what all the fuss was all about. The place was easy to find, just outside the town centre and from the start the staff there put me totally at my ease, which is what you need when contemplating such a drastic procedure. The consultation consisted of a series of tests similar to those undertaken by an optician but included comprehensive eye mapping to ascertain the nature of my defect. ... ...would be monitored buy the Bristol staff as to when was suitable. After walking out of the building, I was amazed just how much I could see straight away, Ok it wasn't brilliant, but considering what had just taken place it shows how unobtrusive the treatment is and how resilient the eye itself is. Once home a two week regime of eye drops beings, but again there is nothing painful here, it is just to combat the occasional dry and tired feelings you ...
