I recently had my eyelashes tinted through a friend of mine who needed a guinea-pig for her beautician exams. Like everyone who is currently considering getting their eyelashes done, I was quite apprehensive, and I will not hide the fact that it is quite a delicate process. I recently had my eyelashes tinted through a friend of mine who needed a guinea-pig for her beautician exams. Like everyone who is currently considering getting their eyelashes done, I was quite apprehensive, and I will not hide the fact that it is quite a delicate process. However, I was astounded to see that it was not at all the painful and difficult task I had been expecting!
My first question when my friend proposed tinting my eyelashes was: Is it going to make me blind? She told me that there have been just a couple of extreme cases in the past where some people have been temporarily blinded by tinting. But apparently, this happened because of the simple fact that they have either tried it at home or have had their lashes tinted at a very unprofessional and inexperienced salon. Otherwise, I was supposedly not under any risk- except of course if I develop an allergy to the product, in which case they would stop at once.
I was quite scared on the day of the tinting so I will not hide the fact that it takes quite a bit of courage to do it the first time. However, like I said before, the process is much, much easier and simpler than expected. First, you get to choose the color you would want for your eyelashes. Since it was expected to look like dry, permanent mascara for the six next weeks, I opted for jet black color. But if you are more daring, there are a range of colors available from grey to green, red, and ice blue, brown, purple...the choice is up to you. The beautician will first cleanse your eyelashes with eye cleansing and toning lotion. There are times when you will have to keep your eyes closed (for upper lashes), or open (for lower lashes). I have to admit that keeping the eyes open might also be quite daunting! The next step would be the actual application of the dye. They will place some strips on the area surrounding the lower lashes and with a very thin disposable brush, the dye will be applied to the lashes. Once again, there will be moments where you will have to force your eyes to remain open in oder to get the lower lashes done. The whole process might take approximately twenty minutes. I was having a faint burning sensation around my eyes, but I was told that it might be because of the fumes of the dye. You should however, report any unfamiliar or uncomfortable sensation, even if it happens to be a minor one.
After the twenty minutes, the beautician will clean your lashes the same way as before the application and you're done! My eyelashes were already dark but there was still a noticeable blackness to them. I would describe it as being as I'd just applied a fresh coat of black mascara. This is in fact the main benefit of tinting- there is no need to put mascara, wait for it to dry or prevent it from smudging. In addition, tinting is not washable with water or tears so you might cry to your heat content in front of that movie! It only lasts approximately six weeks- even if mine seemed to have disappeared earlier. I have also heard that people with blonde, and/or pale lashes will gain more benefits from tinting because the difference will be much more evident.
Therefore, if you happen to be someone very busy, very athletic (tinting also resists chlorine and sweat), or someone who is fed up with applying mascara every morning, then I would highly advise you to put your fears away and try getting your lashes tinted.
One disadvantage might be this: I had my lashes done for free because of my friend, but I have heard that it can be slightly expensive at some places.
Advantages: long lasting, no need for mascara Disadvantages: stains skin and clothes, can cause allergic reactions
I buy my Eyelash tint from a wholesalers, Sallys, instead of somewhere like boots, because its so much better quality and is in salon sizes which means it will last you longer. I've had my first tube of Eyelash tint for 2 years now, overdying my eyebrows and lashes every fortnight lol.
Buying from the wholesalers means you need to buy each part seperately, instead of getting it all in one box, so it works out the first time you buy the Dye is more ... ...to get a tube of Eyelash tint £5.99, Hydrogen Peroxide £6.99, a mixing tub £3 and an eyelash brush £2.99. Because I'm so cheap, instead of buying the mixing tub and eyelash brush, I just use a lip brush and a clean bottle cap, it works just as well!
The Eyelash tint comes in a few colours, there's grey, blue, brown, black and blue-black. Contrary to popular belief, blue-black is the darkest colour Eyelash tint there is, not black! Or, for a more ...

Advantages: Might work for you Disadvantages: Didn't work for me
A couple of days ago, I was wandering past a Beauty Salon in the town where I live. I popped in, just to pick up a price list to see what kind of treatment they offered. When I got home, and was looking through it, I saw that they did eyelashtinting for £9. I'd often thought about having my eyelashestinted. Mascara really gets on my nerves because I have such thick lashes, it tends to clump. If I had my eyelashestinted I wouldn't have to bother with mascara (or eyeliner) for 1-2 months!
Next day I decided to book my appointment. It was easy to get a booking since it really doesn't take that long to do. They receptionisy asked me if I had had it done before. I said no and so she told me that I'd need a test to check that I didn't react to whatever they use to tint my lashes! She applied a little of the black solution behind my ear ...

Cinema, the whole experience is so much better than watching a DVD at home. I love the popcorn and the whole atmosphere of the cinema experience. We are going on Saturday night, not sure what to see yet, but I don?t care, I just love to go. The last film I saw was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with my 9-year-old son. I try to go at least 3 or 4 times a month.
**Make up or natural?**
Natural. I don?t wear much make up, just a little eye shadow and maybe some lip stick or gloss. I do make a bit of an effort when we go out, but hate the chore of having to take it all off at night. It?s either that or wake up with panda eyes! Last Friday I had my eyelashestinted, so I hopefully won?t have that problem for a few weeks!
