When i first picked the game up and looked at the back i thought the graphics looked a bit scratchy and i had already read reviews on the game and it had a medioca rating. I knew that if it was anything like the previous FIfa games it was sure to be worthwhile so i took a chance and took it home to test it out.
Graphics & use of Screens when i started playing it the graphics were much better than anticipated and were of a good standard for a handeheld console. However it makes the pitch and stadiums seem much smaller and the players sem enclosed. The two screens for the DS are utilised fairly well. The top screen shows all the action and the bottom screen shows a map of a field and the placement of you and your opponent. When entering the field management option you can also drag the player's to the position you want them to field in from now on. Whilst none of this is revolutionary, it is very practical, and having such a detailed view of the ground is very helpful when deciding where to pass to. When a goal is scored you're also able to use the bottom screen to navigate the replay, which let's you control the replay completely. The navigation with the stylus is nearly flawless and it is easy to view a replay from any angle
Gameplay Intuitive gameplay enables you to command every move of your player with pinpoint accuracy. Passing, shooting and tackling is now more responsive than ever and enables you to trap, shield and dribble like a world-class footballer. However there are down sides in the fact that the controls are hard to pick up and learn but once you do it is not very challenging and the only mode really is challenging is World Class mode and is a huge step up from the rest of the difficulty levels.
Sound The sound is of a high production, and John Motson provides the commentary and it doesn't become repetitive. The commentary is very clear and it sounds brilliant coming from the Nintendo DS speakers. A lot of effort has also been put into the sound effects, and all of them are of a high production. The audio is one of the highlights of the game.
Other Features The career mode and season mode is great and there are many extra features of the game which prevent you from becoming bored. Then i decided to test out the multiplayer mode, this was very impressive and much better than i thought it would be. There are many appealing features about this game but i would like to have seen more use of the touch screen. This game costs around £25-£30 in most good games stores and recommend this game to anyone who likes sport or football games. it was well worth the money i paid for it.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Hey good review. To get higher ratings from readers, try to go into a little more deph. For example, how much the game costs, what attracted you to buy it, why the game is addictive, what you have acheived on the game, how it measures up to similar games and whether you'd buy the next in the series, and why. Good first op. Chris:)
