People criticise FIFA for being too easy, which I have noticed in past additions but now you cannot score from really far out every time and also from close-up. ... ...good graphics- definitely go for FIFA 09. If you're just bothered about the gameplay it's a tough one because FIFA has updated it a lot whereas Pro Evo haven't really, but it is still good gameplay.
If you really liked the gameplay of last year's Pro Evo get the new one.
If you want something new and/or the whole package get Fifa 09.

This really does feel like the gameplay has been remastered and is completely different to last years installment. Just as I was moving away from FIFA to Pro Evolution Soccer, I am once again loving FIFA. After playing the latest Pro Evolution on PC I would say FIFA is better. There isn't a lot of change from last year's Pro Evo, the gameplay seems the same and the graphics are not as good as FIFA 09. People criticise FIFA for being too easy, which I have noticed in past additions but now you cannot score from really far out every time and also from close-up. The goalkeepers seem a lot better now which is more realistic. Also, you cannot just skip past players-you actually get tackled!
You can also use your mouse as a control, to point, pass, and shoot, which is quite a good feature (once you've got used to it) and it helps make your shots and slide tackles more accurate. There is also a new skill move modifier control which is quite good for certain skills.
When the ball is in the air a new feature of competing for the ball is evident and also vollies are improved.
However it ultimately depends on what you value- if you like good graphics- definitely go for FIFA 09. If you're just bothered about the gameplay it's a tough one because FIFA has updated it a lot whereas Pro Evo haven't really, but it is still good gameplay. As far as I'm concerned theres only one game needed to thoroughly enjoy your gameing expereince. After the success of Fifa 08 EA Sports has come back with a stroke of genius, Fifa09!
Fifa is much more realistic this year, in my opinion the greatest sports game made. The commentry runs smoothly, passing is sharper and the glitches are to a minimum. New this season are the celebrations, you can choose your own depending on whether you score or not. Combinations of buttons decide whether you slide on your knees or do somersaults, a classic way of winding up opponents while you put in the third goal of your star strikers hat trick!

In my opinion Fifa09 is the mother of football games.
In the past it has been to close to call between Fifa and Pro Evo games, however personally I believe Fifa09 has really pushed the bar up this game, surpassing any Pro Evo football game.
With many new features it's easy to see why Fifa09 is highly recommended and sought after. Computer interaction has been vastly improved, the reactions from the players is easily recognised. The detail is staggering and graphics sleek and sharp. The standard has been set, if you thought it couldn't be that different from 2008 think again.
