Game Modes
The variety of gameplay options on this release from the FIFA series is a vast improvement on any of the previous editions. With 'Be a Pro' single player and season options, this now offers a genuine alternative to the original season mode, of one should choose to do so. The introduction of the new add-on game, FIFA "Ultimate Team" is yet another diverse and excellent addition to the game. Even though users have to pay for this privilege, UT gives a unique opportunity for the user to build a team by collecting "Cards" and thus trying to create the "Ultimate" team, by winning games for points to buy packs, cards etc. The fact that FIFA can keep me so entertained for the duration of the season is simply brilliant, and the variation that the game offers allows the player to explore a variety of ways to enjoy football.
Online Play
The online play with this edition of FIFA is yet again excellent, with the Ultimate team add-on also being primarily an online addition, competing against players from around the world. Whether it is online leagues, fixtures with friends or just a genuine test to your FIFA skills that you are after, FIFA 09 online play offers this all, even with 11 vs 11 online in "be a pro" mode, which really can be a welcomed contrast to the usual game modes.
Graphics and match engine
This FIFA release, as would be expected, really does have the best graphics yet, and to take full advantage of this, I would advise investing in HD tv and cable, as the experience is quite simply breathtaking. The detail put into each player really does highlight why FIFA has become the leading football game in the market, completely outstripping it's former rival Pro Evolution Soccer. The gameplay engine is smooth, slick and at an excellent speed, giving the player the most realistic feel yet of a real life football game. The user choosing goal celebrations, although a novelty feature in itself, indicates the lengths that EA is going to in order to satisfy the keen gamer- brilliant.
Value for money
I purchased my copy for aroudn £40 not long after it was originally released, and can undoubtedly say that it is the ps3 game that I have used the most. I have never even got slightly bored of the game due to the variation of gameplay modes, with online play in particular giving endless competition and enjoyment.
To conclude, I would unreservedly recommend purchasing this game, especially now as you would probably be able to get hold of it for a fair bit less than £40. I honestly think the only thing that will stop me playing FIFA 09 is the day that FIFA 10 is released!!!!
...I havent bought a Fifa game since like Fifa 03. So to take a gamble on this one was out of the ordinary for me. Ive always been a Pro Evo man but after consulting many of my friends and also playing the demo of Fifa 09 I was immediately hooked. Pro Evo has been disappointing for me in the previous few years with no real improvements to gameplay, fifa had so many advantages this time around it was an easy choice for me.
First off, the graphics are ... ...the last version of the Fifa but this year it is much improved. In this mode you take control of 1 player for 4 seasons and try to guide them to the ultimate goal of a legendary footballer. The matches are the same but you can only control 1 player instead of the whole team.
In Be A Pro Season you can either take control of a real player e.g. Wayne Rooney or create a base player from scratch. e.g. Joe Bloggs.

Fifa 09 is better than any other fifa.
the graphics are better , diffrent players and new players on teams , and new online play.but best of here is your chance to be on a real team of 11. so get 9 friends or under 9 freinds and play online together in the same team.or you can just go on it and you will join a team with other people. you can also make your own team mine is called watermelon fc lol.

I finally am able to say I have a favourite out of FIFA09 and PES2009 and the winner not surprisingly is Fifa.
This game has managed to put together stunning graphics, presentation and a control system which has seen huge strides forward from last years offering (I love the ability to decide the strength of pass, cross, shot, etc through how long I hold the buttons) and with these all married up with the excellent commentary you are in an experience ... ...over and then one day decided to take it online and found that this stepped the whole game up to another level as you then have the ability to take on all of the world and you truly see different tactics and different mentalaties - I took on the Dutch and saw passing galore then the next game took on West Brom and had a long ball opponent but it just makes the entire game all the more special.
I love this game and am more than happy to recommend ...

The xbox 360 is a must buy once you have bought this you wont want to get off it. The graphics are amazing and when you plug this in into a high defenition t.v you will see the really benifits of the xbox 360 high defenition qualities.
The things that make the xbox 360 special are of the graphics the online play and the games such as call of duty 4 fifa09 vegas2 grandtheft auto halo 3.
Also what i think that makes the xbox stand out from the other consoles like the ps3 is that it is a very reasonable price and that the games are cheaper than ps3 games.
The disavantage of the xbox is that the onilne you have to pay £40 a year also the xbox can get a problem called the the ring of death also the xbox does get overheated if played to much. But the thing that really annoys me is that you have to buy so many asesories like ...

When I went to buy my PS3 at the end of 2008, I was torn between buying the PS3 and the Xbox 360. I must admit one of the biggest factors between the 2 was the price, the Xbox's price tag was a lot lower, but I wanted online play and online cost a LOT in the long run with the Xbox. However the PS3 was a lot more expensive initially, the online was free, but that wasn't the only reason I chose the PS3...
The Graphics on the PS3 are truly amazing, and I tried it without HD initially, but after hooking it up to my HDTV, I was blown away. One of the first games I played was Fifa09, and I was quite honestly convinced that the start up picture of Ronaldinho, was actually a picture and refused to believe that it was actually computer generated after one of my friends told me! Another game I got for Christmas of that year was Need for Speed ...

To start off on a positive note, Fifa 10 really is a great game and is without doubt the best so far and the best football game available to date. However, it's downfall really is that it does not do much for the casual gamer that Fifa09 didn't do. In terms of the differing versions of the game available, the PS3 version is actually significantly different in presentation to it's XBOX 360 counterprt.
Whilst having enjoyed the game on the XBOX 360 console i was able to play it on the PS3 at a friend's house recently and the first thing i noticed was how the graphics were so different. Having been the proud owner of a PS2 with Fifa games up until 2008, i was very suprised when my first thought upon kick-off was how it looked as though i was playing Fifa 2008 on the PS2.
