Advantages Updated team lists, better goalkeepers

Disadvantages Weak opening, dull celebrations, nothing new.

Before I start my rant let me say this. I'm a massive "EA Sports" and "FIFA" fan. I love the games. Can't get enough of them. But when I traded in my old Fifa 2000 and replaced it with Fifa 2001 I got quite a shock.

First up having eagerly listened to the standard "E.A. sports. It's in the game!" I was dissapointed to find that the opening sequence wasn't half as good as it's predecessor, not critical to the game I know, but first impressions count and all. I hoped that this wasn't a sign of things to come. The last thing that I wanted was to have traded in the better game....... I was glad to find that this was not the case...... however I was most upset to find that in actual fact there was very little difference between 2000 and 2001.

Now I know that football is football and as such there is only so much that a football game can have in it, but there is such a small diffrence that I was left wondering if it was worth the money.....

The matches themselves are pretty much the same, identical controls, tricks, general gameplay, graphics (slightly better I'm told, but I didn't really notice much of a difference), but sadly gone are the imaginative goal celebrations, replaced instead with those associated with an over 80's footie team.

Obviously the teams have been updated to incorporate new players, and it is nice to be up against more realistic goalkeepers that don't let in evry shot inside the box, but if these are the only improvements that have been made, then I feel that you may as well stick with old 2000.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great game....and if you don't have a football game then yes buy it it's great, but if you already have Fifa 2000, then don't bother, stick with Robbie Williams and some great goal celebrations.

If as I play the game my opinion changes I will update this review so pop back in a weeks time and see what I think then
