FIFA MANAGER 08 blows Football Manager clean away. There are more options, better layout and it plays smoother and is easier to get started, but much more challenging.
This isn't just a Management game. You can start off as a player in the team. Player Manager, whereby you are part of the team and train and play the game. This is open only to male characters between the ages of 18 and 40.
The scouting system isimmense and realistic. You really have to be careful and listen to your scouts, as you could end up buying a real carthorse. This doesn't impress the fans or Chairmen.
The player ratings are broken down into so many categories, that you can really judge who your better players are. But their form and happiness are difficult to maintain, if you don't keep talking to them, or playing, them, they become disheartened and this can affect the morale of the whole squad.
Whilst trying to find the big buy, don't forget your youth and reserve teams. Their is nothing better than seeing a young lad develop into a superstar. But you risk losing him if he doesn't do well at school.
There are sponsorship deals, ticket sales, merchandising, youth camps and financial matters to juggle. Do you trust your staff, or will you do everything yourself?
Build a stadium to increase your ticket sales, but be wrabed, if you cripple your club financially, you go into adminsitration, or get sacked.
Turn your club into a financial superpower, by building youth camps al over the world, construct flats for income, improve facilities, set ticket prices, design kits, the list is huge.
Will you keep with one club, or take management offers abroad? Will you become experienced enough to be asked to Manage one of the major footballing Nations alongside your club, or will you end up with England!
Can you get your tactics right on and off the pitch. Training and coaching are paramount to success. 4-4-2, or 3-1-4-2.
Will you play every game as one player, or watch the action live. Will you see the teletext result, or dictate matters in text mode, or hope for the best and go for the instant result mode.
At the start of the season set your objectives. This affects your budget. Too low and not enough dough! Too high, fail and its bye bye!
Oh yes and there is your family. Will you be married, a Civil Partner, single, all these option are open to you. Keep the family happy too.
Answer all these questions and more in FIFA MANAGER 08. The game!
P.S A tip. If you have players who are highly paid, reduce the wage bill, by getting them to accept highes paid player clauses and sell on fees. e.g. If 5 players are on £100,000 and the next is on £50,000 if they are happy to be the highest paid player, they will all end up on £50,000 a week. But if you then get a player in on £100,000, they all go back up!
For a bit of fun, go into the editor mode!!!!
