Here the game involves starting off as a new manager for a club of your choice. There are so many British, European, and other International sides to manage. The game involves almost every aspect of managing a football side. This game is not an action sports game like FIFA 08, this simply involves managing a football club. The choice of which team to manage, is yours.
Upon starting a manager is given a budget to work with, fan's and the club's directors expectations level to meet. The ambition of a team such as Manchester United or Chelsea would usually be to finish in the top 3 of the league or to win the Premier League in that season, or win the Champions league etc. If failing to meet these expectations, or losing too many matches, the manager is sacked. If people do well, people can negotiate higher pay rises, bigger transfer budgets. This also means that more foreign players are more likely to sign for the club. This is in a sense how this game works. It reflects well on the real life image of football.
Game playability
Within half an hour of
play, people can find themselves fully understanding the game. Here I can on match day I can select the speed of the match, the match Play's at normal ninety minutes, or at two or four times the normal speed. This is a really good option to save upon time. The presentation of the game is good.
Extra features
- Here the user can listen to audio files on the computer whilst at the same time Playing the game. There is a feature contained in the main menu area that allows audio music coverage. I found the match day commentary too much to listen too, and this feature is very good to drown out the match broadcasts.
- The game has built in classical Music, with nineteen tracks to be precise, for I guess an easier listening/game Playing mode. This music I really find somewhat annoying to listen to and instead use my own music tracks. Following on the audio commentary is really good quality, it uses sounds of well known BBC, Sky broadcasters i.e. J Motson, A Gray, Clive Tylsley. to name a few.
- People can select the difficulty level, so it is easy to say that easy mode, can involve winning the treble with a top side, and under difficult mode the manager can be sacked very quickly indeed. Though this does produce added competition and a person's knowledge and understanding of the game to be put to a really tough test.
- Regarding the choice of match Day views provides really good presentation as matche's can be viewed in three dimensional mode. This provides a minute by minute display of the match itself as well having a video text option of the match. For faster game play mode's, this shows the scores, players ratings, and other matches between sides in the same league/competition as your team is in.
Advantages of this Game
This is relatively cheaply available to buy on eBay where there are listings for about one or two Pounds. Amazon have brand new Computer game available for nine Pounds and ninety nine pence. So this avoids needing to spend twenty five Pounds on the latest edition of 2008 if required. Sometimes the latest version' of say the 2008 is simply a new design with slightly up to date player listings, so buying a slightly older version might not really be that bad a decision, especially not for one or two Pounds.
The Game playability and high range of features is really impressive. There are so many controls that a manager can change, which includes buying and selling new players, managing the team finances and budgets, liaising with the Director's, Team talks, Team strategy, player positioning, organising training camps during pre- season, and much more.
Manager's whilst playing the game can change the Team formation i.e. move the players startling line up, week in week out, or get the assistant coach to automatically pick the team, also the manager can adopt a 4-5-1 team formation, or go for a more attacking 4-3-3, etc. The positioning of the players on the pitch and their main responsibilities can also be tweaked.
All in all, these features can be amended and tweaked almost forever until the time when a team goes on winning matches for a long time.
People who play this game, or who already have, will realise the saving the status of the game is very straightforward process.
Disadvantages
There is FIFA Manager 2008 that proceeds this game; also there is a much more detailed Football manager game which is much more complete in terms of league lists and teams on a larger scale.
It can also take a while to save and often load the game that has been saved previously. By saving too many times, will of course lead to a slower game Experience as more Computer Disc Space is utilised. The dvd for this game takes up four giga bytes upon installation, that is how large the Game is, in terms of computer space.
There are no cheats that allow fast progression from online forums that makes this game an easy test.
Conclusion
I find this game is a really impressive game developed under FIFA's licence and information list. This is a game that football soccer enthusiast's would really enjoy. .
