For this review the store that I am talking about is my local Barnstaple store. F Hinds is a well known high street jewellers. Our local town actually has two branches, one in the high street and one in the shopping precinct. F Hinds has been established for over 140 years and been trading on the internet since 1997. They have over 100 branches across England and Wales and pride them selves on service and quality. An engagement ring was purchased in August 2009, but not given to me until November 2009 as my now husband had to pluck up courage first to ask me. The ring was ordered in at a size J. On placing on my finger it seemed a little bit big which I put down to my losing some weight, and as I couldn't bear to part with it I kept it. A fortnight ago I discovered the ring had misshapen and took back to the store. Although i have been into F. Hinds a few times this review is about their repair service they now offer in some stores. I noticed a sign in my local shop recently advising they were now able to offer jewellery repairs. Most watch batteries can be changed whille you wait (depending on how busy they are and they type of watch you have) they are also able to fix small jewellery problems same day (again depending on how busy they are). I had broken my bracelet a while back and hadnt got round to putting it in to be fixed so i decided to try them out as they are only a few minutes from where i live ... more

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! Do not use this company for a watch repair service. They are over charging their customers!! They told me my watch needed a full repair service, when it only needed a new battery. They tried to get me to pay nearly a £100.00 for a service, and lied to me, saying that the battery was fine and still had power, and that it was the watch that needed fixing. I took my watch to an independent watch repairer who told me it just needed a new battery at a cost of £10.00 and that it most certainly did not need a service. I took 3 rings in to be valued in order to decide whether I wanted to sell them or not. One was white gold with a diamond, one was silver with sapphires and a dress ring - when I went to collect them I was handed 3 piles of indistinguishable lumps of metal! I can never wear them again! I was informed that I wanted them tested for gold/silver content - true! But I have had valuations made with other jewellers and I was always able to wear the items afterwards!
