Faceless Killers - Henning Mankell

I have been urged to buy this for a while now, my father in law lauding how Mankell writes. He and I share the same type of book, so I eventually made my way to it and picked it up. The start is clinical and concise, describing events very surely, reminding me of Stieg Larsson in terms of giving you the cold hard facts in a stark way. The difference between the two ultimately ends up being the waffle, perhaps a sign of editing. Mankell's hero is Inspector Kurt Wallander, televised in his native Sweden before getting the inevitable English speaking makeover to try and appeal to a wider audience ... more
