Advantages: Inexpensive, fascinating for young babies Disadvantages: Not machine washable
If you're not a little baby, this looks like the world's least interesting book, but trust me - if you're a little baby it's brilliant! It has only 6 pages, made of cloth and filled with something that crinkles when you move it/chomp on it/wave it around! The first two pages have a repeated heart pattern and a picture of a daddy, the 2nd two pages have a different heart pattern and a picture of a mummy and the third two pages have a lovely bright ... ...you can see from the picture, they are simple, unsophisticated pictures - very basic and stylised, which makes them great for even very new babies to look at. They are done in black, white and yellow only, making them easy to see with young eyes. The book can attach to a car seat, pram or high chair using the strip of fabric and velcro attached (though determined older babies will manage to yank it free!).

As you can see from the picture, they are simple, unsophisticated pictures - very basic and stylised, which makes them great for even very new babies to look at. The front cover has a round baby-safe mirror, which is infinitely fascinating for a baby to look at and play with.
The only very slight negative comments are that it's not machine washable (though it can be sponged clean) and that the string you use to attach it is at the top of the book, so it lends itself to attaching to something up above the baby rather than something where the baby will pull it up to look at it. If the tape attached halfway up the spine of the book it would be a bit more flexible in where it attached to stuff.
However, in summary this is a brilliant book for a young baby and our son is still fascinated by it at nearly 7 months. It's cheap (about a fiver, from Amazon or similar), very portable (because it's so light) and can be used anywhere. It look unremarkable when viewed through adult eyes, but trust the baby - it's brilliant.
