I was recommended an over-the-counter product called "fade away", by a clueless doctor, to help with my red marks and acne scarring. Turns out the product is actually called "fade out" and it won't help a great deal with red marks / scarring as is designed to dissolve the melanin (brown pigment in the skin). For solutions to acne scarring see the forum at acne.org (non-profit / non-commercial site).
I still bought the product, as I have freckles on my cheeks, and wasn't previously aware of a product able to remove them (I have lightened them over the years with lemon juice, but this can sting and makes the skin very sensitive to the sun).
I bought the product over the counter at my local chemist, it cost around £5.50, which I seems inexpensive for a moisturiser with a sunscreen. Although, it's a little dissapointing that they don't give details of an SPF factor for the sunscreen.
The product comes in a small round white ceramic tub, with a plastic lid. The cream is thick, smells like a sunscreen (not unpleasant, but you wouldn't fragrance your home with it) and is off white in colour. You need to rub it in a fair bit for it to absorb if you are using a lot.
I had never really used a moisturiser before, as my skin is oily. I had always found that, even moisturisers designed specifically for oily skin, left my face feeling greasy as soon as I applied it. "Fade Out" was very different. It certainly didn't dry my skin, but my face felt very fresh after I applied it. You can definately feel something happening when you apply it, an ever so very slight warming of the face : it doesn't sting or irritate.
I'm not sure if this cream would be moisturising enough for those with very dry skin, but on occasions when I have had areas of dry and flakey skin is has coped well.
The only people I would definately not recommend this product for is those with dark or tanned skin. This is because the product contains "Hydroquinone" which is a skin lightener.
In terms of actually fading freckles... Firstly, on researching this, I have discovered that freckles can never be totally removed, only ever lightened, or "faded". I have been using this product liberally each morning for around 3 months (the tub is still half full). This would typically be the worse time of year for freckles (middle of summer) and the freckles on my cheeks are practically invisible. There are still a few lone, larger freckles, but they are fading. I cannot be sure how large a part "Fade Out" has played in this, as I use other things on my skin that could of contributed (Copper Peptides, Lactic Acid 50% Peels, vinegar, lemon, retin-a). What I am certain of is that the sun screen in "Fade Out" is helping no end, and I haven't had a sun burnt nose yet this year :)
Even if I didn't have freckles to fade (which I barely do anymore) I would still use this product. It is the best moisturiser I have found, and a great way to protect my face from the sun without making my skin greasy.

Advantages: faden dark spots, scars, etc. on skin Disadvantages: makes skin dry, strong smell
I don't use this product any more but did use it for quite a while. I started using it about two years ago after getting a scar on my face in an accident. It was recommended to me by a local pharmacist.
I applied it on the scar and every dark spot on my face daily, and though everything didn't disappear the result was quite good. I stopped using the product as it made my skin very dry. And also, I didn't like the strong smell of it.I applied it ... ...morning and as the product was recommended to be used on areas of skin that needs fadening, I stopped using it as soon as my scar has fadened to a considerable extent. I've still got the scar on my face, but it really unnoticeable.
I'd say the cream does the job it's recommended for. It's good for you to try it if there is any dark spots of skin on your face that you need to get rid of, but I wouldn't use it as a daily cream otherwise. On the whole, ...

Advantages: Effective if used everyday Disadvantages: Quite a greasy, heavy cream
Fade out extra care: active fade cream This is a useful product for fading unwanted marks on the skin, in particular, those caused by the sun – freckles, sunspots etc… It can also be used to fade abnormal dark pigmentation areas, and age or liver spots on the face and hands. Brown marks on the skin are due to a build up of pigment (Melanin) under the skin, which is constantly being brought to the surface. This process is particularly active when ... ...marks to appear. Fade out extra care needs to be given about 6 weeks applying morning and night for a result to be seen. Although it is rather a greasy and heavy white cream, once it has been absorbed by the skin, make-up can be applied as usual. It is really in place of a moisturiser, as it does the same job, but with the added bonus of fading unwanted brown marks. It *does* actually care for your skin as well, as it contains Vitamin E (helps prevent ...

Advantages: an excellent cream Disadvantages: It makes you skin dry
...those unsightly red blotches? - Fade away have come up with the answer to your prayers.
If you suffer from any of the above try Fade Away - it does work and at £5.50 it doesn't break the bank.
I had previously tried Vein Away ( I had seen this cream advertised in a magazine and decided to try it ). I sent of a cheque for £19.99 inc postage and packaging for this so called miracle cream and I might as well have went out and bought a jar of honey. ...

Advantages: works by fading skin red areas Disadvantages: smell
I was actually quite surprised with this product as it said that it needed several weeks to work, however, it worked over night for me. I have a fair complexion and I put it on at night and the next morning it had definitely lightened areas around my nose, any freckles and sun spots. A pleasant surprise. The cream itself is a little heavy when you put it on; it says on the product that you can wear it during the day or under make up. I wouldn't-- ...

Advantages: conceals while it clears problems Disadvantages: none
...This is a brilliant product which i'm sure will be of use to a lot of people out there. It is a leg treatment cream, which is pumped full of vitamin k, and Arnica extract. Vitamin k promotes healthy blood and tissue repair, whilst the Arnica reduces bruising and scarring.
Altogether the ingrediants of this product helps to clear up unsightly spider viens, blemishes, uneven tone and scarring too. But what is really good about this cream is that it is ever so slightly tinted and quite thick but not too thick, so when you massage the cream in ,it covers what your trying to cover up whilst clearing up and mending at the same time.
I have been using this cream myself now for the past month to cover up two long scars that run behind both of my knees (i got the dogs retractable lead wrapped round my legs! dont ask but it was painful...
