I have to confess to have always used finish products but my boyfriend always out for a bargain saw the Fairy Tablets had a special offer on in Macro - BOGOF - need I say more.

First of all I should say that the Dishwasher we have was inherited with the house and we believe it is probably about 10 years old. I have cleaned the filters, topped up the salt and rinse aid etc so could not put the poor performance down to that.

In the Fairy box were a few of the finish tablets that were left. I was open minded about using these products - as they say nothing ventured nothing gained. I had chucked the dishes in the machine in my usual haphazard fashion and then placed the tablet in the dispenser as I had on previous occasions. I was surprised that there was not the equivelent of the the power ball feature in the Fairy tablets but concluded that it was not needed.

I tend to only put the machine on every 3 days - with two of us it doesn't get full. Very rarely put saucepans in as if they are badly marked they don't come out gleaming like they do on the telly!!

I have gone off to work and come back in the evening to unload the dishwasher and the first thing I noticed was a strange texture on the dishes- it is hard to describe - it was not greasy but it just felt as if there was a residue on them. I then took out the glasses and they were very smeary so not at all impressed. The plates were not completely clean either.

My first thought was that the dishwasher was on the way out so I put them through a cycle with Finish and had the results I expected - clean shiny dishes and glasses.

I used Finish for the next couple of washes and then tried the Fairy again - exactly the same results as before.

Suffice to say I have 2 large boxes of Fairy dishwasher tablets that I will not be using - any takers?

Do you need much for each clean? I put in one tablet as stated on packet.

Irritable to skin? Well you don't exactly wear the product do you but we have not had mouth ulcers, upsets tummies etc
