Not being loyal to any particular brand of washing up liquid and tending to buy whatever has the best offer when I am shopping, I have ended up with fairy liquid in my cupboard recently as they where on offer.
Now according to the people at fairy this product not only leaves you dishes feeling squeaky clean but it also pampers your hands, is this true or just another marketing gimmick? Well we shall see.

Fairy now comes in a see through plastic bottle as do most well known branded washing up liquids we are supposedly seduced by the lovely colours that they come in, OK the ladies will be interested in the colours particularly if you wish to colour co-ordinate your washing up liquid to your kitchen. The colours are designed to match the scent and as you would expect my Fresh Lavender is a purple shade and my Pink Petals fragrance a very dark pink.
Now for the test, according to Fairy a little goes a very long way so I wanted to see whether my Fairy lasted longer than other brands, no I did not have a massive cooking fest or party but just compared how much and how long each item lasted on a regular dish washing that I would normally do. Owning a dish washer there is usually not a lot of items that end up in the sink so for a change and for the purpose of the test a couple of times my dishwasher was made redundant.
I added a small squirt of Fairy to my running hot water as I filled the sink and ignored the rubber gloves. Instantly I could smell the lavender aroma waft up from the sink and this was very pleasant indeed and did have a good likeness to the natural smell of a lavender plant if you brush up against it in a garden. If you just had a sniff of the liquid in the bottle this scent is far too overpowering and in fact made me feel like I wanted to sneeze. I have a good amount of suds for a very small drop or you could even call it a drip but I suppose this really depends on the water type you have in your area, where I live it is quite soft so I would imagine you would need to use a little bit more in a hard water area.
In go the dishes, a couple of plates - had lasagne for tea so a bit of grease to tackle there, no soaking required at all straight in with the plates here and a quick wipe and you can see immediately how clean your dishes are. How would it handle the baking dish that I used to cook the lasagne - hmm a bit of a challenge as normally I end up with burnt cheese sauce around the edges where I was not so careful adding to the top layer. In it goes - wiping straight away I note that the majority is removed, however, the crispy bits on the dish did need a soak for about five minutes to loosen and make them easy to wipe off.
Well how did it compare to my previous brand, well not really a vast improvement, the cleaning power was about the same with the only really noticeable different was how long the suds lasted and Fairy was the out and out winner here so yes I would have to say that Fairy does last longer. However, as I normally use my dishwasher there are never any occasions that I would need to top up with clean water and refresh due to suds disappearing and the cleaning power being non existent after a large amount of dirty dishes.
In comparison with the cheaper shops own brand and value range then Fairy is really the better value due to the minimal amount needed to get decent amount of suds, the liquid is also much thicker, with the value brands I have found that these can be very runny and a really good squirt is required.
Are my dishes squeaky clean, well they certainly look clean, holding them up to the light I can find no trace of greasy residue and they have a nice clean shine to them. Running my finger down the middle of a plate (I know I have just washed them and will have to do this one again) I do get that squeaky noise which indicates that all is as it should be an my dishes are clean.
The big question, how do my hands feel, are they all dried out by the chemicals used to make this product or do they feel like they have been pampered. Well about the same really, no difference, they certainly don't fell like I have to dash for the hand cream but neither do they feel as though I have just spent the last 20 minutes moisturising and pampering my hands.
Will I buy it again, well that really depends on what is on offer when I next run low on washing up liquid, as I said at the start I have no real loyalty to any brand and for the amount of dishes that get washed in the sink how long the suds last really is not an issue for me.
At time of purchase offer was 3 for GBP3.00 which I purchased 2 Pink Petals and 1 Frsh Lavender, there was another fragrance available called Apple Quake but I'm not keen on anything apple scented to gave it a miss.

Advantages: Long lasting, excellent performance, nice fragrances, good value in the long run Disadvantages: Pink one stinks horrible
...a sexy purple bottle of Fairy Liquid being advertised on my TV, in a slinky looking bottle, with new fragrances to fill my kitchen with a new and fresh aroma.
Ever since Fairy had a new face lift and launched their all new aromatics range, with new shaped bottles made with clear plastic (easier to spot when your liquid running low), sexy colours to brighten up any kitchen and fragrances to die for, I have not stopped buying Fairy since.

-----------
The bottle is constructed of strong clear plastic, ideal for giving you an indicated of when to get some more. The shape can only be described as slinky, kind of like a dress makers dummy, minus the boobs, and I have to say is much easier to grip in comparison to the old round and bulky bottle (which could be beneficial to ...

Advantages: Lasts ages, efficient, reduces scrubbing, cuts through the crap, good value Disadvantages: None
...reason is, of course, that Fairy liquid really is a very good product. It strikes me as one of the few products that REALLY does what all the advertisements have always suggested – and in this day and age, that make’s it kind of unique as far as I’m concerned.
As you are probably aware, Fairy Liquid is made by the well-known detergent manufacturer Procter & Gamble. It seems to have been around forever. As a child, I can remember ... ...– the latest face of Fairy being the television chef Ainsley Harriott who is still trying to prove that a bottle of Fairy liquid will last forever – well, nearly anyway.
We live in a strange household in that for the last year or so we have had an electric dishwasher that simply never gets used. We don’t normally make enormous amounts of washing-up, so I prefer to rinse the dishes after dinner and put everything away there and ...

...using at the time was Fairy Pink Petals. I tend to buy my washing up liquid according to what is on offer at the time but to be fair you do get what you pay for and fairy is by far the best. The cheaper brands aren't as strong so you need more in your water to start with and also the bubbles don't last as long.

When Fairy Liquid was first produced I think I am safe in saying that the original green liquid was all that was available. Apparently the discerning housewife / husband now want various flavours - sorry - fragrances to choose from. So now we still have the original green version but now there are many extra fragrances such as lemon twister, lime, pink grapefruit & mint, passion flower storm, summer breeze, apple quake and more including ...

Advantages: Does exactly as it claims to do. Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive but worth it.
...myself returning, without fail, to Fairy Liquid. I have found throughout my many years as chief dishwasher that although Fairy Washing Up Liquid is slightly more expensive than others on the self, it does last much longer and therefore is just as economical as the other ones where you have to use maybe 2 or 3 squeezes to keep you going to the bottom of the dish pile. One little squeeze of Fairy Washing Up Liquid is more than enough to cut through ... ...every mealtime, but my trusty Fairy Liquid always manages to cut through all the grease and grim to leave my dishes gleaming and squeaky clean again. If I happen to burn any of my shiny stainless steel pots, which I hate to admit does usually happen most days, then a little squeeze of Fairy Liquid added to the pot with some water and left to soak until your meal is finished helps the burnt pot to be cleaned with ease, again leaving a beautifully ...

...one. So I bought a Fairy Clean and Care Almond 450 ml washing up liquid for 1.4 pounds in Sainsbury’s. Most of the times I do the shopping with my sons, so I have to hurry because they don’t really enjoy walking around in a groceries shop. Advantages: Works well, cheap as OWN BRAND stuff, smells nice Disadvantages: none so far
Living above the family's grocery store, I don't normally need to nip out to buy things like this, but one week a few years ago while my Dad was having to keep spending on stock to a minimum, I ended up having to do so.
Past choiches having been restrict to Fairyliquid, HAPPY SHOPPER own brand + "Squezy", and the Ecover stuff i covered in a previous review.
I'd plonk this one as the 2nd best of these after Fairy.... Happy shopper 3rd, Squezy 4th & Ecover last.
It's made by CUSSONS, the same people who make imperial leather soap + carex handwash, etc.
The colour is the pretty much bog-standard green colour, though a slightly brighter shade than the others..... there's also an anti-bacterial version in blue.
The standard green one also has a sort of lemon / lime zesty smell to it, unlike other green washing-upliquids. The Blue Anti ...
Fairy Pure Clean:
When the other half came home from hospital after a heart procedure, I was told that he would be susceptible to infection for a while and that I should give our flat a good cleaning. I probably overreacted and went a huge shopping spree buying every antibacterial product I could find! One of the better products I got was Fairy Pure Clean washingupliquid.
On the shelf the bottle is easily distinguishable as a bottle of Fairy due the familiar baby branding and Fairy logo and indeed, the shape of the bottle as well. As well as the usual stuff you?d expect to find on the bottle there is a logo letting us know that Fairy Pure Clean is certificated by the Royal Institute of Public Health, (www.rsph.org.uk), and another to show that is antibacterial. Fairy have made a slight mistake by writing ?antibacterial action? in ...
I am a married mother of three very active children, I also work full time so I depend very much on my kitchen appliances to ensure clothes and dishes are clean. Generally I have to use my dishwasher every other day, as we are only home for breakfast and evening meals. Over the years I have tried various dishwasher tablets, liquids and powders and wouldn?t say I was committed to any one specific brand, I must admit I usually buy what is on offer in the supermarket. I am much more brand loyal to the washingupliquid I buy and would only buy FairyWashingUpLiquid so I was very pleased when I happened upon Fairy Active Bursts Lemon on offer in my local supermarket.
The Fairy Active Bursts come in a plastic pouch type bag; the packet is the same green colour that I would associate with FairyWashingUpLiquid. There is a see through ...
