The one I was using at the time was Fairy Pink Petals.
I tend to buy my washing up liquid according to what is on offer at the time but to be fair you do get what you pay for and fairy is by far the best. The cheaper brands aren't as strong so you need more in your water to start with and also the bubbles don't last as long.
Fairy is hardly a new kid on the block - as my old dad would say 'It's been around since Adam was a lad!' I can certainly remember those twee adverts for Fairy when I was a little girl and I am 53 now so it's been with us for a while. 'Hands that do dishes can be soft as your face …….'
When Fairy Liquid was first produced I think I am safe in saying that the original green liquid was all that was available. Apparently the discerning housewife / husband now want various flavours - sorry - fragrances to choose from. So now we still have the original green version but now there are many extra fragrances such as lemon twister, lime, pink grapefruit & mint, passion flower storm, summer breeze, apple quake and more including the lovely Pink Petals. There is even an anti bacterial version to kill any germs as well!
By the way who thinks up the names of these fragrances? Surely they aren't trying to convince us that washing up is some kind of pleasurable experience?
Currently 500ml of Fairy Liquid is £1.22 at Tesco's or two for £2. There are often offers on Fairy so, if it is your favourite, it is worth stocking up when the price is low. Thinking about it I should take my own advice as when I buy one of the other brands I am never as happy with it as I am with Fairy.
One squeeze of fairy Liquid in a bowl then filled with hot water makes plenty of rich bubbles and, in this case, a lovely fragrance. As ever I find it difficult to describe smells but I would just say that this smells light and flowery, which is logical since it is called Pink Petals!
Of course that's all very well but what you want is clean dishes isn't it? Well, that is exactly what you will get!
Fairy really does cut through the grease and, with a quick rinse, all the dishes are sparkling and clean. Even when you have all the pots and pans from Sunday lunch to wash Fairy still shines as it gets rid of the grease more easily than the cheaper brands.
As the old advert said - are your hands as soft as your face? - well maybe not that soft but Fairy certainly doesn't irritate the skin.
The bottle is plastic and so can be recycled which is important to me.
Fairy Liquid is made by Proctor and Gamble and there is a dedicated website at www.fairy-dish.com
In conclusion I would say that, whilst Fairy costs a few pence more, it's worth it for the improved cleaning power and in the case of Pink Petals the lovely smell!

Advantages: A little goes a long way so it lasts for a long time. Disadvantages: Tempting to use too much which results in huge volumes of bubbles, everywhere!
